Clean site and friendly staff 21/08/2017

Very friendly reception/shop staff and the site was small but well equipped. The reception was full of useful information and there was plenty of maps and leaflets so we could explore the local area. There was a small shop on site was all the essentials and the bar was well stocked.
The local area was great. Benodet, Beg Meil and Concarneau are fantastic and well worth a visit.

    Disliked:

The pitches were very close to the opposite pitches and with the tent up the car had to be parked very close to the tent. The toilet blocks very basic. The restaurant/bar was very expensive.
We stayed near another two families who obviously came to the site regularly, they had a large family and knew a lot of other people on the site. There pitch was opposite ours and there pitches became the meeting point for large groups on a daily basis. Whilst we are up for everyone having a good time it can get a bit tedious when they are up until 2-3 am every night. So if you go, avoid the caravans that look like they are in for the long haul!

Small site, close to coast with friendly helpful staff 20/08/2017

This site is ideal if you want a relatively quiet site that is close to the beach and you don't need to use public transport to get out and about. Better for dropping into for a couple of nights rather than staying a whole week. Pitches are reasonably level and a choice of pitches were offered when the first one wasn't suitable. Showers and toilet areas were cleaned every day and there are washing machines on site. Staff are friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to help you in your hour of need like the lovely young lady who ran around and found some jump leads for us when our vehicle wouldn't start and the nice young man who worked in the bar who spoke excellent English and was able to tell us where to find a decent supermarket that we could cycle to.

    Disliked:

Electrical boxes are not easily accessible and your electric hook up cables will run along where vehicles drive through. Waste water not accessible for large motor home and chemical disposable point not ideal. Wi fi is free though it is slow and sporadic depending on where you are situated in the park. No supermarket in near vicinity and public transport virtually non existent so a car is needed if you want to get out and about or if you need to stock up with provisions. More signage in different languages would be helpful. Main toilets whilst cleaned every day were always smelly

From arriving and staying for 31 days the camp owners Pascal and Elisabeth and the great young energetic staff couldn't do enough to help you settle in and be part of what could only be said a family. Site was very clean and cleaned regularly, the camp is very flat with large pitches. All the amenities you need a small bar and restaurant with theme nights for food and great food it is especially the mussels, mmm mm. The staff were fantastic spoke broken or good English and would help out with anything, a great credit to the owners whom they all seemed to treat them as part of there family! The camp was close to a beautiful white beach and it was a shallow bay so safe for young and old swimmers alike. The area around the camp is very flat with lots of safe cycling from both young and old alike. Its a quiet site with a some permanent residents in caravans, mobile homes and returning campers year on year which helps with the sites family feel. All ready to come back next year as i've left my heart there.

    Disliked:

Due to not getting many UK campers there signs were all in French so you needed to ask or work it out yourself. They were made aware of this and said they would be willing to try next season to put it right. This in part was down to us missing out on a few of there theme nights and great food. To be critical with having a 12yr old with us the only real fault I could give was the fact the camp didn't have a swimming pool, which would have given Penhoat Cote Plage a perfect 10 rating. The wifi is not the strongest signal with you having to be near or around the Office or Bar area which can be a little bit annoying.

Local attractions

Some of Finistère's and Brittany's top attractions are within easy reach of Camping Penhoat Coté Plage, like the spectacular Glénan Islands about 15 kilometres off the coast, and the thermal baths and thalassotherapy centres of small town Bénodet. Kitesurfing, swimming and sailing are all accessible at the nearest beach a 300-metre amble away.

One of Brittany's most-visited attractions is Quimper, about half an hour's drive away and the capital of the historic region of Cornouaille (yes, this is cider land). Strolling through its medieval streets and among its old buildings should be the first items on a day trip agenda, and then we'd recommend a look at the Cathedral of Saint Corentin and its surrounding areas, and a visit to one of the many workshops open to visitors and specialising in the city's tradition of earthenware.

Also about half an hour away, Concarneau is a fortified town surrounded by medieval bulwarks and full of cobbled streets: highlights here include the fishing museum and the fishing and yacht harbour.
