Some spectacular sea views are yours for the taking when you pitch up at Brittany's Camping Cap de Bréhat – and the views around the site aren't too shabby either... Covering five hectares of scenic space, Camping Cap de Bréhat looks out over the Paimpol coastline, the Île-de-Bréhat, St Riom and Bilfot Point, and is five minutes' drive from Plouézec. It's a peaceful and family-friendly place, with excellent facilities including an indoor pool, two bowling alleys, two playgrounds, a trampoline, bouncy castle and games room. Cocktails, snacks and more sea views from the terrace are at the Camping Cap de Bréhat bar, open daily, and bread and pastries available every morning if you place your order the night before. There are regular foodie and cultural theme nights such as moules frites and grilled pork evenings, Breton nights and after-dark hikes.

Local attractions

Drive five minutes to reach Port Lazo, famed as a Brittany oyster spot. To find out more about the trade, the port's Park An Istr gives guided tours on Paimpol Bay and its oyster farming, or you can have a free tour every Sunday in summer on the Port Lazo hold. Port Lazo's also the home of the popular lookout spot of the Moulin de Craca, high on a cliff overlooking the bay: if you're around in August mosey along to to the Noz Ar Vilin Fest Noz here for Breton and Irish music and dancing as well as local cuisine. Another must-see is Île-de-Bréhat, reachable via a 10-minute boat trip from L'Arcouest (25 minutes' drive). Actually two small islands connected by a bridge, Bréhat's a pretty place for peaceful wanders, around the old stone cottages and the pink rocks that are home to hundreds of puffins. Also potter along to the old fort and the Verreries de Bréhat, to see glassblowers doing their thing and to – possibly – have a go yourself. Breton strolls and hikes can be had right from the site along the spectacular route of the GR 34 coastal path, running for 1,800 kilometres around Brittany's entire shoreline past coves, cliffs, beaches and dunes.
