  • Family-run Brittany site in Lanloup, between Plouha and Paimpol
  • A five-minute drive to Anse de Bréhat beach and the GR34 coast path
  • Swimming pool, snack bar, mini farm and summer activities
Got your eye on the Goëlo Coast? It’s a good pick – this is a very scenic stretch of Brittany’s coastline, with pink cliffs, wild coves, sandy beaches and pretty seaside towns to explore. Well placed for visiting all of this is Camping Le Neptune, in a handy location in the village of Lanloup, which is just off the D786 main road (both within 20 minutes’ drive). From this lush woodland setting it’s just a couple of kilometres to the coast for Bréhec beach, the Vélomaritime cycle route and the GR34 hiking trail. It’s also not far to the ferry terminal for trips to Bréhat Island. Back at the site, owners Stéphanie and Raphaël have made a real effort to make their site a wonderful place for a family holiday. It’s a peaceful spot with lots of trees for shade (and to provide a home for wildlife) and a mini farm where you can look into the rabbit run and meet a trio of friendly goats. The pool is open throughout high season, with a retractable roof to ensure you can keep swimming even on cooler days. The summer holidays also offer up extra activities like pony rides, animal feeding, Breton games and treasure hunts for the kids, plus pétanque tournaments and shiatsu sessions for the grownups. There are also weekly live music sessions and crêpe evenings. On top of all that, you’ll be able to use the multisports court, the games room, the library and the playground, or hire e-bikes to tour the area. A snack bar, a grocery store and a bread service are on hand to provide fuel for all this activity.

Local attractions

The team here can provide you with details of hiking and bike trails for all levels, but if you’d like to try something different, perhaps head to the watersports centre in Bréhec (five minutes’ drive) or the scuba diving centre in Saint-Quay-Portrieux (15 minutes). Of course, it may be that your main plan is to do very little activity – in which case, make a beeline for the gorgeous white sands of Anse de Bréhat (five minutes) or find other nearby beaches like Plage Bonaparte (five minutes) or Plage du Palus (15 minutes). You could also book a scenic train ride with La Vapeur du Trieux (15 minutes) or spend the day pootling around Bréhat Island; take the boat from Ploubazlanec (25 minutes). There are several lovely seaside towns for a stroll too – it’s worth spending some time in Paimpol (20 minutes) or venturing further afield to Perros-Guirec (50 minutes) and Ploumanac’h (an hour) to explore the Pink Granite Coast.
