If ever you needed an excuse to invest in another swimming costume, a stay at M&V Resort could well be it – this stylish Langrune-sur-Mer site could hardly be closer to the sea, as it’s a mere 150 metres from the town’s long sandy beach.
And once you’ve had a dip in the sea there, well, there’s more to come – the park also has an outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a splendid spa area with Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam. All of this means that your swimming togs are likely to get good usage – but there’s plenty to keep you occupied while it’s time to leave them to dry for a bit.
Those dry-side options might include a workout in the fitness area, a gentle game of pétanque or some screen time in the video games room. There are also play areas on site to keep the kids busy – or perhaps you’re all ready for a nap by now? Despite all the activity going on, this is a quiet park that's completely pedestrianised to avoid any traffic noise, and with plenty of space around all the accommodation so you won't be living on top of your neighbours.
When you're ready to venture out, it’s not just the beach that's close by – the park's location on the edge of town puts you within easy reach of various shops, restaurants and cafés (all within 10 minutes' walk).
Back at base, each accommodation unit has its own kitchen and dining area, along with a bathroom and indoor/outdoor living space. It’s all designed to make life as easy as can be, with towels provided and beds made up… leaving you all the more time to make good use of that swimming kit…

Local attractions
This part of the Calvados coastline is packed with places to visit – especially if you’re interested in history. The castle and abbeys in Caen (25 minutes' drive) will take you way back through the ages, as will a trip to the famed Bayeux Tapestry Museum (35 minutes).
Meanwhile, the history of the 20th century can be explored all along the coast at the various D Day landing beaches and associated memorials. The British Normandy Memorial (25 minutes), Hillman Site (15 minutes) and D-Day Museum (half an hour) are among the places where you can get a feel for the era and pay your respects.
To lift the mood again, head to Colline aux Oiseaux (25 minutes) to meet the animals and play miniature golf, spend some time on the rides and go-karts at Parc Festyland (half an hour) or try the treetop course at West Adventure concept (15 minutes).
