When you’re after a quiet and simple Normandy camping experience or looking for an overnight stop to and from the English Channel ferry ports, check out Aire Naturelle d’Agy. This low-key retreat from the hustle of city life is surrounded by greenery and comes with spectacular views over the Calvados region’s countryside. Modern facilities on site include hot showers, toilets and a washing-up area, plus a small shop where you can pick up basic groceries and some camping essentials. Anything else can be found in historic Bayeux (10 minutes’ drive), with its choice of restaurants, markets and shops. If you’re looking for outdoor activities, you’ve come to the right place too, as there are plenty of hiking and cycling trails to be followed around the rural village of Agy (five minutes) – and as the site is pet-friendly, you can bring your four-legged pals to help you explore the area. For more sporty action, you can go fishing on the River Drôme or horse riding through peaceful woodland in less than 10 minutes’ drive.

Liked Nous avons apprécié nos 2 nuits dans ce camping rural. Les sanitaires sont simples mais très propres et de nombreux cochets, supports, etc… sont appréciables. Cette aire est relativement petite donc calme et sympathique. Le patron est accueillant et veille au confort. La ville de Bayeux est proche (10 minutes en voiture). Les emplacements sont plats, propres et spacieux (pas les min 11mX15m annoncés par Pitchup mais il y a de la place !). À recommander. Signé : les Suisses du mois d août 2026

Liked Clean, tidy, quiet, well presented, generous pitches, showers and toilets were very clean. Good communication even for a non-French speaker like myself.
If youre visiting for D-Day tourism the site is only 30 minutes from the beaches.

Bayeux (10 minutes’ drive) is close by when you stay at Aire Naturelle d’Agy, making this a useful base for visiting the fabled 230-foot-long Bayeux Tapestry. Don’t rush off though once you've seen the main event though; stay to tour the almost-untouched pretty medieval centre of the town, which escaped serious damage in World War II. Look out for the stately Gothic-style Notre Dame de Bayeux Cathedral, then have a stroll past the half-timbered houses lining the River Aure. History lovers wishing to explore the Normandy Landing Beaches are in pole position too. Omaha Beach (25 minutes) has remains of German bunkers and a stirring steel memorial to those who died in World War II, or you can visit the Juno Beach Centre (35 minutes), crammed with war memorabilia. Kids with you?
