  • Small, quiet Normandy family campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Bayeux
  • Omaha Beach 25 minutes’ drive, and Juno Beach 35 minutes
  • Shop for groceries and camping essentials; walks and cycling from site
When you’re after a quiet and simple Normandy camping experience or looking for an overnight stop to and from the English Channel ferry ports, check out Aire Naturelle d’Agy. This low-key retreat from the hustle of city life is surrounded by greenery and comes with spectacular views over the Calvados region’s countryside. Modern facilities on site include hot showers, toilets and a washing-up area, plus a small shop where you can pick up basic groceries and some camping essentials. Anything else can be found in historic Bayeux (10 minutes’ drive), with its choice of restaurants, markets and shops. If you’re looking for outdoor activities, you’ve come to the right place too, as there are plenty of hiking and cycling trails to be followed around the rural village of Agy (five minutes) – and as the site is pet-friendly, you can bring your four-legged pals to help you explore the area. For more sporty action, you can go fishing on the River Drôme or horse riding through peaceful woodland in less than 10 minutes’ drive.

What customers say

This is a small, peaceful rural campsite with spacious, well-maintained pitches and immaculately clean facilities. Guests praise the friendly and helpful owner, Michel, who uses translation apps to ensure clear communication. The site's quiet countryside setting is ideal for relaxation and exploring Bayeux and the D-Day beaches. While some mention limited on-site services, the availability of fresh bread and essentials is appreciated. Minor points include the need to bring own toilet paper and soap, and some guests noted pitches could be more level. The site is highly recommended for its tranquility and value.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Liten mysig camping. Tysta omgivningar (mitt ute på landet). Ägaren och hans glada och positiva humör. Nära till samtliga sevärdheter för WWII.

Disliked Ibland saknades det papper på toaletten.
Duschmunstyckena. Helt värdelösa. Du blir lite blöt på huvudet men från axlarna och neråt blir det bara någon slags spray-dimma. (Flera franska campingar har tyvärr detta duschmunstycke.)

Electric optional grass campervan pitch

Liked Natural area owned by a family. About 20 spots available
Next to it you have the country side. If you are looking for a quite evening you should go there
Super Clean bathroom and showers, drinking water available.

It is far from city center, so don’t book this if you want to go out at night
There are not other services like market/bar nearby, but on Saturday and Sunday you can reserve fresh baked bread

Electric optional grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Huge pitch
Immaculate sanitaires, soap & toilet paper provided. Unheard of on so many sites.
Lots of information.
Small shop for essentials.
Can order croissants, pain chocolat etc
The owner: what a great guy he is. He’s really trying to create a tranquil site.

Disliked The only tiny niggle had nothing to do with the site. There was a group of children and adults, we assumed it might be a school trip. The kids were great, quiet after 10pm. However, the adults opened and closed the mini-bus door at least 20 times, with zero consideration for anyone else. We had to leave early the following day for our ferry. I’d like to think we made as little sound as possible. But as I mentioned, this was not the fault of the owner and I would return in a heartbeat. It’s literally a 30 minute drive to the port at Ouistreham. Once his trees and hedges mature it will also be wonderful for wildlife.

Local attractions

Bayeux (10 minutes’ drive) is close by when you stay at Aire Naturelle d’Agy, making this a useful base for visiting the fabled 230-foot-long Bayeux Tapestry. Don’t rush off though once you've seen the main event though; stay to tour the almost-untouched pretty medieval centre of the town, which escaped serious damage in World War II. Look out for the stately Gothic-style Notre Dame de Bayeux Cathedral, then have a stroll past the half-timbered houses lining the River Aure. History lovers wishing to explore the Normandy Landing Beaches are in pole position too. Omaha Beach (25 minutes) has remains of German bunkers and a stirring steel memorial to those who died in World War II, or you can visit the Juno Beach Centre (35 minutes), crammed with war memorabilia. Kids with you? If they need a change from war tourism, take them zorbing or climbing on rope courses at Bayeux Aventure - Parc de loisirs et attractions (10 minutes), or put your heads together to solve the puzzles at La Bulle Temporelle - Escape Game Bayeux (15 minutes).
