Local attractions

The campsite is in the Allier department of the Auvergne region, one of France's oldest provinces and an area reputed for its great outdoors, natural environment and beautiful small rural villages. A land of mountains, valleys and 1800-metre peaks, Auvergne is an excellent destination for active holidays: cycling, fishing, hiking, via ferrata, climbing and paragliding is all on offer.

Guests can also explore the extensive cultural heritage of the region. The Priory of Stain Peter and Sain Paul in Souvigny is only 35 kilometres away. It has an interesting museum home to the 'calendrier de Souvigny', a carved Romanesque pillar depicting a calendar with the farming works. Although not as popular as the Priory, the Saint-Marc's church in Souvigny is also worth a visit.

Apremont, classified among the 'most beautiful villages in France' is home to the Chateau d'Apremont and impressive floral gardens. There is also a museum in the stables of the Chateau which contains various carefully restored horse-drawn carriages.

There is also the medieval town of Nevers with its fifteenth century ducal palace and the imposing cathedral dating back to the sixth century.
