Quiet family-friendly Naujac sur Mer site 10 kilometres from the coast

If a day at the beach followed by a wine-tasting tour around the Médoc vineyards sounds right up your alley, head to Camping Le Ranch… from here, dune-backed sandy beaches, pine forests and refreshing freshwater lakes are all part of the itinerary. Find this quiet family-friendly site in Naujac sur Mer, sat snugly between the beaches of the Atlantic coast with Lake Hourtin 25 minutes’ to the south and vineyards to the east. Just 10 kilometres and a 15-minute drive from the strip at Plage du Pin Sec, you’ll be well-based for sandy horse trots, surfing or light paddling in the sea. Sit in a pretty landscape of green at this two-star dog-friendly site, where the grassy pitches benefit from patches of shade from the trees and convivial staff are on-hand to point you in the direction of activities around the Médoc peninsula. Perhaps hire a bicycle from the site and mount it for the trails around Naujac sur Mer’s surrounding pine forest. You could practice nautical sports on Lake Hourtin (the largest freshwater lake in France). Afterwards, if the kids are still brimming with energy, there’s a play area back on site where they can carry on with their playtime. You’ll surely have worked up an appetite after all that. If so, there are a couple of restaurants within 10 minutes’ drive and wider eateries within 15 minutes’ drive (including a couple of restaurants right beside the beach ideal for sunset dining). Choosier eaters (or anyone who likes to keep a snack bar in their pocket) will be pleased to find there’s a large supermarket within 20 minutes’ drive and a smaller shop within 10 minutes’ drive to handle the basics.

Liked: Great forest location with a lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff and an unexpected outdoor live music event. The reception area has a nice outdoor seating area with views across the forest. Highly recommended.

Liked: Parcela amplia, instalaciones renovadas, amabilidad del equipo, precio económico. Se nota que quieren dar vida al camping, organizaron un pintacaras, un concierto...camping muy tranquilo pero con algunas actividades.

Disliked: Duchas y baños escasos para tantas personas, podrían estar más limpios. Es bastante cutre que no hay papel higiénico en los baños.

Nous sommes confronté à cette problématique depuis que nous sommes présents sur des plateformes de réservations en ligne. L'affluence de clients en pleines saisons et principalement cet été nous a fait réaliser qu'il été nécessaire d'investir dans nos sanitaires. Concernant le ménage nous ne négligeons pourtant pas ce point important de notre métier, mais il nous est difficile de passer après chaque clients. Nous nous efforcerons de rendre votre futur séjour encore plus agréable. Merci de nous avoir choisi pour vos vacances. A bientôt David et Jessica

Liked: Camping familiale, calme et propre ! Très bon accueil. Personnel très sympathique et au petit soin. Petit déjeuner très bien. Emplacement propre.

Disliked: Manque de lumière pour accéder au sanitaires la nuit. Manque de douche et toilettes, trop d'attente. Manque de savon pour ce laver les mains en sortant des toilettes.

Liked: We absolutely loved it. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Facilities are clean. You are surrounded by nature. There is a bar restaurant too which offers nice charcuterie and cheese board and drinks at a very decent price. Thanks!

Liked: de rustige omgeving. Mooie natuur en ruime camperplaatsen. Vriendelijk ontvangst.

Disliked: Sanitaire voorziening is gedateerd. De toiletten waren wel vernieuwd maar niet allemaal open. De douches zijn dringend aan vervanging toe. Ook was er maar één sanitaire blok operationeel voor de volledige camping.

Liked: Late check-in was very easy. The receptionist sent us a text with the map highlighting our pitch.

Disliked: No loo roll, no light in the shower cubicles, pitch balck in the entire campsite

Local attractions

If you ever fancied yourself as somewhat of a wine critic, you’ll be well-set for your new career in this region, as there are bounds of vineyards and wine cellars within 30 minutes’ drive for wine tasting tours. Stick closer to the site and visit Animalia Parc (five minutes), home to rows of ducks, sheep and a few select deer and foxes. See if you can crack the riddles around their walking route or try out trout fishing, climbing or a pony ride. For a pitstop tour of the local historical sights, you might want to begin with Tour de l'Honneur (10 minutes), an old castle tower, or the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres (half an hour) for imposing abbey architecture. If you’re willing to make the journey, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bordeaux (an hour and 25 minutes) has landmark cathedrals, opera houses and relaxed riverside dining spots. Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
