General

  • Well-kept family-run park between the Dordogne and the Céou valley
  • Castle views of Beynac two kilometres away
  • Bar, fishing pond, swimming pool, restaurant and kids' clubs

Spectacular views and lots to do in la France await at Camping Les Deux Vallées: you can see a fortified castle from the park for a start…

Camping Les Deux Vallées is in the Périgord, between the Dordogne and the Céou valley, and has views for a king of the Beynac fortress a couple of kilometres away. It's also a top-notch location to use as a base for exploring: medieval towns and castles, gloriously green gardens and prehistorically ancient sights can all be seen here for the days when you're off site to take in the food, drink and sights of the Périgord countryside.

On site, loads is laid on for guests by the amiable and English-speaking team: a swimming pool and paddling pool (open as soon as weather allows), bar with pool table, small shop, games room, sports court and a fishing pond. The TV room has a big screen telly to keep up with the Tour de France, Wimbledon or other big sporting events.

There's a launderette to take care of essentials and a playground to take care of the kids – or send them off to the kids' club for three to seven year olds or the 'not-so-mini' club for ages eight to 12. The clubs run in July and August, as do the regular entertainment and activities like sports tournaments, bingo nights and talent shows.

Et finally, the Camping Les Deux Vallées restaurant serves tasty food and has a good choice of set menus; high chairs are available for the small.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Derrick the owner was very nice, explained rules and regs. He spoke excellent English which some people would appreciate.
The site was well laid out and close to many attractive towns in the Dordogne and the Lot valley.
    Lovely swimming pool,Bar and restaurant.

    Disliked:

Showers and washbasin water supply could be a little hotter.

Would have liked plugs in sink but can understand why they are not supplied no great problem if your shaving foam lid fits the plug hole.

No loo roles and soap in toilet block for 2 days maybe an oversight but I would have thought the cleaners would have picked up on it.

It may be they were out of stock ???????

Excellent welcome from Derek who was friendly, professional and offered useful local information as well as detailed site information. Delightful location with exceptional view of Chateau Beynac. Ideally located for visiting all local attractions with added advantage of a lovely walk from the site to the local town away from roads. Fresh bakery items daily and a bar offering drinks and snacks.

We stayed in an XL pitch which was amazing. The size of the pitches means you're not too close to others and it was so quiet and peaceful. The view over the Beynac castle was beautiful and visible from our tent. The swimming pool is newly renovated and stunning-just the right temperature and beautifully clean. The owners were so friendly and helpful, always put and about cleaning and seeing to the running of the site. They gave an excellent recommendation for a local Auberge for lunch and nothing seemed too much. We would recommend highly and stay again!

Good location site, very helpful staff, pitches need attention 25/08/2017

The site is in good proximity to the Dordogne and the beautiful towns and villages of the area, such as Sarlat, Beynac, Castelnaud, Domme, Daglan. Clean pool and although basic clean showers and toilets. Very helpful staff on site.

    Disliked:

Pitch sizes are inconsistent i.e. large pitches in some cases bigger than XL pitches ours was smaller than expected as we booked an XL pitch so were a little disappointed. The pitches were not particularly well kept i.e. back hedges overgrown with stinging nettles and hedges between pitches not trimmed down so made the site look a little untidy. No toilet roll at all for the whole of our 5 night stay, some attention to these details could have easily made this site a more pleasant stay.

Local attractions

Beynac, its comely village and the fortified Château de Beynac are two kilometres from Camping Les Deux Vallées: the château is on top of a cliff so go here for magnif views down the Dordogne valley. More famous cliffs are at La Roque Gageac, along with many independent shops and restaurants, three kilometres from the campsite.

As well as Beynac, one of the best known castles in the region, the area has many other sights to see for those into medieval history and architecture, like the medieval town of Sarlat, the capital of the Périgord Noir region (eight kilometres); the village of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and medieval castle housing the Museum of Medieval War (four kilometres); and the medieval town of Domme, with yet more spectacular scenery down the Dordogne.

Even ancienter history can be had at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the Musée National de Préhistoire/National Museum of Prehistory (15 kilometres) and the prehistoric cave paintings of the famed grottos of Lascaux.

See also the 22 hectares of topiary gardens at Marqueyssac, two kilometres away, and Josephine Baker's former home the Château de Milandes four kilometres away, these days home to demonstrations by swooping birds of prey.
