Les Deux Vallées

Beynac, its comely village and the fortified Château de Beynac are two kilometres from Camping Les Deux Vallées: the château is on top of a cliff so go here for magnif views down the Dordogne valley. More famous cliffs are at La Roque Gageac, along with many independent shops and restaurants, three kilometres from the campsite. As well as Beynac, one of the best known castles in the region, the area has many other sights to see for those into medieval history and architecture, like the medieval town of Sarlat, the capital of the Périgord Noir region (eight kilometres); the village of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and medieval castle housing the Museum of Medieval War (four kilometres); and the medieval town of Domme, with yet more spectacular scenery down the Dordogne. Even ancienter history can be had at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the Musée National de Préhistoire/National Museum of Prehistory (15 kilometres) and the prehistoric cave paintings of the famed grottos of Lascaux.
