All set for the alfresco life? After you’ve had a go at all the watersports on site, move on to a round of golf at the course 10 minutes’ drive away, set off for some fishing in the Langinkoski Imperial salmon water (40 minutes) or take off to Tykkimäki adventure park (an hour) for waterslides, pools and high ropes courses all in a forest setting. You don’t have to get up into the branches to appreciate the trees and flowers at Arboretum Mustila (an hour and 10 minutes) – stick to ground level and follow the trails through the gardens. And there are more pretty wanders to take among the plants and waterfalls of Sapokka Water Garden (45 minutes). If the weather’s decided it’s time to dive indoors for a while, perhaps turn attention to the Maritime Centre Vellamo (45 minutes), the Maretarium aquarium (45 minutes) or the heritage village around the 19th-century Verla mill museum (an hour and 20 minutes).
