Local attractions

Explore the beautiful Elqui Valley, with its gorgeous landscapes, vineyards ad small historic towns like Vicuña, birthplace of the Nobel-winner poet Gabriela Mistral. Visit the museum dedicated to Mistral to learn more about her life and works and take part in a guided tour of the famous city's observatories, such as Cancana, El Pangue, Mamalluca. This region has always been famous for stargazing, with the Elqui Valley being the world’s first International Dark Sky Sanctuary; therefore, after nightfall, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the stars.

Relax and chill out under the warm sun in the beautiful local beaches, such as Punta Choros, Totoralillo, La Herradura, La Serena , Los Guanaqueros, and Tongoy. If you feel active, there is plenty of activities for you to enjoy and explore the area: go cycling in the many routes available, mountain biking, hiking, trekking and horse riding.

You can also enjoy amazing views of the Puclaro dam, a beautiful artificial lake created by a dam on the Elqui River.
