- Small-scale site at a Wallonia estate with a biodiversity focus
- Les Grottes de Neptune and Espace Arthur Masson within 20 mins' drive
- Fishing pond and firepits on site; donkey treks available to book
Taking the time to slow down and appreciate nature could well be one of life’s true luxuries… and that’s exactly what you should be able to do when you stay at Étang de la Pisselotte, a peaceful and spacious rural Wallonia site near the village of Sautour and about five minutes’ drive from Philippeville.
The small-scale site here is part of a private estate that’s dedicated to biodiversity and spreads over about three-quarters of an acre, including a large pond where you can go fishing, launch a small boat or settle down to see if you can spot the resident beavers. This is a place where you’re encouraged to let the day unfold at its own (gentle) pace, perhaps starting off with an alfresco coffee before taking a walk along the property’s paths or just chilling out with your book for a while.
Or maybe you’d like to get to know the permanent residents a bit better? The site is also home to sheep and donkeys, and you can join in with donkey treks while you’re here, spending a half day or full day following trails through the surrounding woods, meadows and Hermeton Valley landscapes. (These activities cost extra and must be booked in advance.)
This laidback site welcomes families, groups, couples, solo travellers and well-behaved dogs, and encourages guests to spend time out in the open air enjoying barbecues or campfires; firepits and outdoor seating are provided. Other facilities include compost toilets, cold showers and a shared fridge.
