Lovely get away - yet nothing like the pictures on pitchup 18/09/2016

This campsite is in a beautiful location next to the river and underneath the viaduct. Its quiet, peaceful and a perfect get away. We stayed in September and there were mostly younger couples and older couples. There were no families.

The campsite has a friendly feel, the bar is good - it is quiet and useful to get beers, chips etc. The owner is very friendly although rather disorganised. Its also far cheaper than other campsites in the area which is an advantage if you are on a low budget. The local village has a shop and a hotel which does simple meals, but that's about it. This place is about resting, relaxing, dipping in the river, and walks in the woods. Its an experience staying in a 'traditional' campsite - more enjoyable than the self service campsites near the cities.

The owner is aware of his guests comfort. We met some other couples and one night we got a bit loud. He came and asked us to be quiet.

You can have a fire by your pitch and there are designated areas for this.

The pictures on pitchup make it look like its focused on retro campers, VWs etc. This isn't a true representation. There were a few retro campers etc but not many. This was a disappointment to us.

The campsite looks busy but often isn't. The owner owns a lot of caravans with awnings which stay in situ and are rather dirty and run down looking. Few were occupied when we were there. Initially this felt eiry but we got used to it.

The facilities (toilets, washing up, showers etc) are poor. There is no toilet paper, they need updating/maintaining, and they aren't cleaned regularly. It says there is a charge for the showers but the showers work without putting money in.

If you want electric bring a long lead (25m). We brought a 10m one and it didn't reach.

    There is no wifi.

From the manager...

thank you for your objective comments :)

for photos with location retro, it's true that we have privileged for promotion to new campers: the old vehicle for the spirit of respectful owner that spring is really for us the existing spirit of picture of our campsite.

(for the next year you should come just two days earlier (for our retro-camping weekend;)

for the green caravan that is our trailers we buy to renovate and rent, as our toilet that enlarged it with the 4 future private bathroom we still have much to do, we sum aware ca takes time (I do this alone) and the money (I know do it alone) :)

for wifi, it's actually with "apel" AC unit stops but works with other

pleasure ;)

arnaud :) :)
