  • Family-run Pembrokeshire site with views over the Preseli Hills
  • A 15-minute drive from Haverfordwest; 30 minutes from St Davids
  • Private barbecue area for each pitch with firepit and furniture
If a small-scale, peaceful site deep in the Pembrokeshire countryside sounds like an enticing idea, then set your sights on Quarry Park Camping, a rural site 15 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest. Alongside the well-kept (and very spacious) main pitching field, there's a small woodland here for strolls around the site. Many more top walks can easily be reached on foot – or, if you're after hikes along the Wales Coast Path or up in the Preseli Hills, after a short drive. Make tracks here if you fancy cooking and eating in the open air – each pitch has a private firepit with barbecue grill and outdoor furniture, with wood, kindling and charcoal handily all available to buy on site. For an extra kick of flavour, feel free to drop by the community herb garden and help yourself. Got leftovers? Fridge-freezers are available for shared use. This site may have a low-key, back to basics vibe, but it's also home to great facilities like a wifi connection (at reception), a laundry area and – on the off chance you need protection from the elements – a nifty covered area. There's also a small shop at reception where you can stock up on holiday basics, including free-range eggs and local honey. For more food shops and restaurant options, head 10 minutes down the road to Narberth. Dogs are welcome to stay here, but please keep them on their best behaviour at all times.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: I could only give 5 stars max for the customer service but I'd have given more! Matt was probably the best host of any campsite we have stayed at (lots!). He was so friendly, warm and nothing was too much trouble. The location is great. Very central and the north, south and west coasts can all be reached in 30 mins meaning you're never too far from a beach or pretty seaside town. As for the site itself, the pitches were very spacious, private, well maintained and with good facilities on each pitch. The communal area was a great space for those in tents looking to cook under a roof and also for kids to play. The site being dog friendly and with electric hookup was also great. The bacon and egg butties were a treat in the morning and I heard it from the horses mouth that a cafe will be there should we return in the future! All in all, we really didn't want to leave at the end of our stay. We hardly ever return to sites but next time we are down in that area we will be returning for sure! 100% recommended! Thanks for the stay Matt, James, Jill and Louie.

Disliked: Due to how many people could be on the site at the same time an extra shower would be useful but this is a very minor issue and didn't effect our stay.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Matt is a wonderful host. Really warm and welcoming. The site is well managed and peaceful. Showers and toilet facilities are great. Option to purchase ice cream/ bbq meat and fire wood via a honesty system is excellent. We loved our walk through " Granny's Wood' on site. Our little boy thought the den was great! Super location for exploring local attractions.

Disliked: We liked everything ! And will definitely return

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: What isn’t there to like? Matt was such a welcoming guest before we even arrived, nothing was too much trouble. All of the pitches are spaced out with the grass left to grow in between which, as well as being good for wildlife, gave a sense of privacy too. Each pitch was well maintained and tidy with a fire pit and picnic bench for sole use. In the communal kitchen area there were three fridge freezers for site use which came in very handy and electric sockets for charging phones. We didn’t need to use this a lot as we were on an electric pitch but having access to a freezer when you have a child who only lives on beige foods is a godsend! The reception area had lots of things to borrow, like books and games, or buy like ice creams and local meats. Matt operates an honesty policy where you just record what you have taken and settle up on the last day so you don’t have to worry about finding change! The lamb burgers were sooooo good and we would highly recommend them. The wood for the firepits is offered in buckets/trundles on the same honestly based policy so you just help yourself and again pay at the end. Matt came to check on us a couple of times throughout our stay which again was very welcoming. However, if this is something you wouldn’t want I have no doubt that you could just request to be left alone via text before your trip and he wouldn’t take offence! Under the outdoor canopy area there are two sets of washing up facilities which were always clean and the water was always hot. We’ve been to many sites where there is only cold water for washing up so this was a nice touch! There were plenty of toilets which are not separated on gender, this didn’t bother us but it is good to be aware of these things in case it is something you would want to consider. These were in the same room as the two showers. Both showers were in their own cubicles within the main restroom and also had a toilet in each one. This was useful when doing multiple things when juggling children (my little boy could use the loo whilst I shower- the things we do eh?!). In general the bathroom was as clean as it could be for a camping site after rain or drizzle for the majority of the week. It seemed to be cleaned a few times a day and there was a mop and squeegees available for use to clean up after yourself so it was manageable. The one time when a shower plug became blocked, I simply text Matt to let him know and he sorted it out immediately. The showers were also beautifully hot which was lovely :) On site, there is a little woodland area which can be explored. My little boy had the best time playing dinosaurs in there. There is a little car park at reception to keep your car (a few steps away from the main pitches) however, most people on the electric pitches parked at their pitch which Matt didn’t seem to have an issue with. He was only insistent on the heavy use areas (like the canopy area) not to have traffic coming and going in order to keep everyone safe which we really appreciated. We had a great time Matt, thank you, and we would love to come again. As our son rated you, 1 million out of a million!

Disliked: The only thing I could comment on is to have hot water in the bathroom sinks too. But I am aware of the work required to enable this and it really isn’t a biggy. A cold water face wash left me feeling refreshed anyway!

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: The whole site and host Matt were just amazing. We had a welcome text the morning of our arrival and then greated and showed around the site when we arrived by Matt. We loved it so much we wanted to stay on an extra night. The facilities were great plenty of toilets and showers and washing up stations and the option of buying some logs. We loved how spaced out each pitch was and just how relaxing and peaceful the whole site was. We found Matt to be very welcoming and he was always around if we needed anything and he was just a lovely guy. The site is also very child friendly, we had a 5 and 6 year old and they were made to feel very welcome. This site is more than 5 ⭐️ we can't recommend it enough. As much as this is a business it doesn't feel like it when you arrive as you are warmly welcomed and then left to enjoy your holiday. When we arrived home we both said how great this hidden gem is and we would most definitely return! Thanks to Matt and family for a great few days!

Disliked: Nothing the site and host were perfect 👌

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Loved the pitches and the whole camping area!! It was beautiful and the owner was brilliant!! Would highly recommend went with my husband 3 year old and 15 year old and the camp site was just right for us we went for 9 nights! It's perfectly situated for days out, lots to do for both age rangers then the site was quiet at night. Loved it.

Disliked: Only tip is just play around with the showers you'll get the hang of them they go hot and cold when the toilets are being flushed but it goes right again quick enough

Local attractions

For the kids, you could venture down to Clerkenhill Adventure Farm and Frisbee Golf (five minutes' drive), a mightily active spot with lots of hands-on options for all the family. Oakwood Theme Park (10 minutes drive) is another good local choice, as is Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo with its animals, excellent rides and ace amusements. There's also The Secret Owl Garden (10 minutes), with a focus exclusively on nocturnal birds of prey. Young and old can also take advantage of sporty times at Blue Lagoon Water Park (10 minutes), or equally invigorating walks along the brilliant Landsker Borderlands Trail, a waymarked route that can be joined at nearby Canaston Bridge (five minutes). Surfing down at the coast is another popular pick, for which you need only head towards Tenby (30 minutes) or Broad Haven (25 minutes). Make sure you also take some time to kick back and relax while on holiday. For that, settle down on the beach at Saundersfoot (25 minutes) or pick a harbourside spot in Solva (30 minutes). There are also the quiet castle keeps of Haverfordwest (15 minutes), Picton (10 minutes), and St Davids Bishop's Palace (30 minutes).
