Amazing sunset

  • Outdoor Pembrokeshire breaks on a 100-acre working farm
  • Five miles from Cardigan; St Davids 50 minutes' drive
  • Simple facilities, site-run adventure activities and sea views
Where can you find a hundred acres of farmland plus spectacular sea views, rafting, kayaking and coasteering? Cardigan Bay Camping, that's where – and this nifty little site in west Wales has a mix of Hereford and Highland cattle and fluffy flocks of sheep to admire while experiencing all of the above. As a working farm, expect to see machines, mud, fences and all that goes with the working farm environment. The water is fed from a natural spring borehole. This family-run farm site is five miles from the historic port and market town of Cardigan, famed for its castle and for being the birthplace of the Eisteddfod festival in 1176. Here, with friends and family by your side, you can relax and appreciate back to basics country life, lace up your boots to take on some of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path (five minutes' drive) or stick close to base and sit around a campfire as the sun goes down over the sea… Getting down to the beach is also easy – all it takes is a 20-minute walk through a winding valley down to Ceibwr Bay. This wild and rocky spot may not have the best bathing opportunities – for which you'll want to head to Poppit Sands (10 minutes) – but dolphins, porpoises and other local creatures can often be spotted here. In terms of practicalities, Cardigan Bay Camping has basic facilities like toilets and showers. The place really comes into its own when it's time for leisure activities – site-organised white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, coasteering and hiking sessions are available.

Liked So private and peaceful with beautiful views of the bay. Very basic site but with everything you need. Running water and a very decent shower/toilet block. Great location and very lovely host.

Disliked Access is very uneven and bumpy for the car

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked The view was amazing, watching the weather roll in and roll out on the sea all from my tent! It was a really quiet site. Water in the shower is hot, flushing loos too (not portaloo’s!) lovely walks direct from the site. For Kayakers / OW swimmers / SUPpers… great location.
Kelly friendly and super helpful! Adventure Beyond run from the farm too!
Oh and most importantly…the pooch had the best holiday roaming in the biggest field!

Disliked Not dislikes as such but more things to be aware of for other campers… it is tricky access to the site. If you have a small car / low car you will struggle. The tent pitch is on a hill (but this is what gives you the views) Toilets and showers… the most basic of basic and tucked away in a barn… if you watch too many horror movies I can guarantee you won’t shower!🤣

Liked Brilliant, peaceful site, amazing views.
Hot showers.

Location.

Disliked Access track to site needs work, this is a working farm so understand that however, for lower cars loaded up - take it very very slow on arrival.

Bunkhouse

Liked We had the most amazing 10 days in the bunk house and it really was incredibly good value for money. The views were stunning, the accommodation was spacious and life on the farm was paradise for the kids and the dog! We felt totally at home and also really enjoyed using the outside space with the BBQ. If you are used to camping/budget accommodation it has everything you could need. If you are a 5 star fanatic it won’t come up to scratch but then the price tag doesn’t come near to 5 star either!

Disliked Nothing!!

Yurt (eight person)

Liked Very good location, beautiful views from the yurt, good equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, hot showers, very affordable for families. Would be ideal for larger families to rent the 2 yurts together.

Disliked Nothing to dislike about the yurts, although depending on guests in the other yurt, not all guests understand meaning of shared facilities and keeping clean, leaving knives around fire and fire lit etc.

Bunkhouse

Liked No phone signal!!! this was the best part so we all did activities together. there is a bbq area with seats. The barn took me back to the 1970s when we arrived bulbs were missing which added to the experiance so we went round looking for bulbs. cooking facilities are great. just dont come here is you are looking for 5 star hotel, this is for people who find fun in hardships instead of complaining about it. The owner is a great guy and his sheep dog is very friendly

Bunkhouse

Liked When we booked the bunkhouse we were not expecting what we found...this place is just awesome the walls filled with lovely painted messages from children and groups from the past the bunkhouse is airy and comfortable the beds have clean fitted sheets and pillows are provided, the bunkhouse has a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, toaster and all the utensils you could need. It has comfortable couches and a double sofa bed, the bathroom is a spacious sink full running clean drinking water, hot water boiler and self heated electric shower...the beds were very comfortable. The bunkhouse has a box of fantastic board games and adult games such a drinking game. We loved our stay at the bunkhouse and will definitely be returning. Our host Jet (amazing name) made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

Disliked There wasn't really anything we disliked as it was more than we expected...all I can say is that for other people's reference expect rustic converted bar, if you don't like dust or creepy crawlys and you like everything spick and span then this place might not be for you, but if you want a fun getaway... away from the hustle and bustle and and a internet detox and quality time together then this is perfect.

Local attractions

If history's the thing, take a trip into Cardigan town centre (15 minutes' drive) and make for the castle. This historic building also hosts regular event nights and concerts and has its own restaurant where you can have a sit-down meal or light bite while watching the town and port below. As well as its live-in animals, guests at Cardigan Bay Camping may well spot wild foxes, badgers and frogs. If you or your kids are inspired by all of this nature, take a trip to the Welsh Wildlife Centre near Cilgerran (20 minutes), where bird hides, rural trails and a visitor centre make it simple to get to grips with the local landscape. Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (25 minutes) should also be on your radar – here you can see dolphins, seals, red kites and a whole host of friendly farm animals all in one place. Further afield, you might want to take the kids go-karting in Haverfordwest (40 minutes) or down the coast to St Davids to see Dr Beynon's Bug Farm (50 minutes).
