  • Clifftop site a three-minute walk to the pub and 10 mins to the beach
  • 10 minutes’ drive to Tenby for its castle, harbour and boat trips
  • Heatherton World of Activities 10 mins' drive; 20 mins to Folly Farm
Penally Court Farm… a clifftop cracker. Sandy beaches, castles, coastal walks with spectacular views, colourful harbour towns – Pembrokeshire needs little introduction. But this little bit of it, in Penally just above Tenby, deserves more than simply introducing: ideally via fanfares, fireworks, a parade… But none of the above is needed on this peaceful family-run site. In lush green fields on the cliffs overlooking Tenby, it concentrates on simple, well-maintained facilities that don’t get in between you and the surrounds. You can park up where you stay, cook up alfresco feasts on barbecues, or take a three-minute stroll to a pub with grub in Penally. The village also has a shop for stocking up on basics; bigger stores and supermarkets are under 10 minutes' drive away in Tenby. Not that you’d only visit Tenby for baby wipes and beef burgers – it’s a handsome harbour town with pastel-hued houses, a castle, a fort (on an island) and lots of spots for eats and treats… not to mention a cluster of fantastic beaches. The 20-minute walk into town is a terrific way to introduce yourselves to the area, or you could just run into the sea (five minutes’ walk from the site).

What customers say

Penally Court Farm boasts a superb location, a short walk to the beach and Tenby, with excellent bus and train links. Reviewers frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, particularly Kevin. Pitches are generally well-kept, though some report them as sloping, requiring levelling blocks. While many facilities are clean, a recurring theme is that older blocks are dated and could benefit from an upgrade, with some noting occasional issues with cleanliness and road noise.

Liked Great location - it’s a lovely walk along the beach or coastal path into Tenby. Nice pub 5mins walk away. The facilities are basic but adequate and what I would expect for the price. The owners were very helpful and considered which pitch was best for us

Disliked Nothing. The pitch was sloped but blocks were provided

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Location to Tenby was great. Short car ride or walk along the beach in about 40mins. 5 min walk to a pub or another couple.of minutes to the New Overlander Inn. Nice food and beer and also dog friendly. Good views from site

Disliked Facilities are quite dated but not dirty as stated in other reviews..could do with some updating. The smaller wooden toilet blocks were the best.
Quite a slope when pitching. Blocks provided.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked The location of this site is fab, has a beach, train station, bus stop and pub all within a few minutes walking distance.

When we arrived the gent that looked after us was really helpful and gave us options of which pitch we wanted, even let us a longer EHU cable.

The showers were fab, nice and warm and you didn’t have to keep pressing a button to make them run.

We will certainly go back there if visiting that part of Wales

Disliked Absolutely nothing !

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked We liked almost everything about the site, tidy, good views, very pleasant staff.
On the positive side it looked really good. Until we looked at our nearest ablution block.

Disliked There were three ablution blocks. Two of them were small wooden buildings which accommodated two shower rooms, with toilet and sink. Which were fair, they were clean on the whole, but felt they needed an occasional deep clean. The third which was our closest, was antiquated,(1950s I would say). Intermittent hot water, in the shower. Wait a long time for hot water to come through in basin, and needed a good clean. Cobwebs, some black, insects caught in them. Obviously had not been removed all season. Floor could do with a good sweep. The buckets that housed the mops, for wiping out showers, were dry with grime and muck and had obviously not be used in a long while.

Local attractions

Tenby is a port of call for people wanting more than a paddle on the sea: boat trips will take you round the cliffs or out to spot the seals (pick a sunset cruise for marriage proposals, or just to be romantic) and to visit Caldey Island, a rocky nugget of peace, nature and history offshore where monks have been living since the sixth century (not the same ones, of course). To hit the beach, popular Saundersfoot and Pendine are 15 and 30 minutes' drive away, while surfers head for the big waves at Broad Haven and Newgale (40 and 50 minutes). The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is 186 miles long, but don’t feel you have to do it in a day; marked trails along the cliffs give you cracking views and plenty of opps for nature spotting everywhere you go. (A popular short stretch is the eight-miler from Tenby to the castle at Manorbier – and the pub.) Also in the area, Heatherton World of Activities (10 minutes) gets you zipping through the trees, climbing ropes and driving go-karts, and at Folly Farm (20 minutes) you can combine a traditional fairground jolly with meeting farm animals and exotic beasts.
