Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: great location and on a bus route, near to the coastal path

Disliked: grass hadn't been cut facilities very basic the owner called by and was very helpful and pleasant no mirror

From the manager: Hi, thank you for your feedback, it’s very much appreciated but I must point out that this is a basic camp AS described on Pitch Up WITH basic facilities, it’s a pop up site on National Parks so the grass is wild unfortunately, maybe next time your down this way stay in a bigger campsite to suit your needs not a basic one. The mirror has been replaced several times following theft. Once again, thank you for staying.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Andrew was so friendly and welcoming. He made sure the site was clean and tidy with bins emptied twice a day, the toilets and showers were cleaned twice a day and the actual facilities were really top notch, hot showers aren’t always standard, but these were easy to use and piping hot. The surrounding area is great, with loads of activities for all ages if that’s what you want to do. We just enjoyed walks along the breathtaking coast and fun on the beaches. Bless Andrew, he truly went above and beyond when we’d packed up and our battery died. He jump started our car for us! We will be back next year with our extended family!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely quiet campsite. We would have stayed longer but the wind stopped play. We look forward to returning in better weather. Toilet and shower spotlessly clean. We saw the owner checking up on the cleaning when we were there.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike with campsite. The roast outside is quite busy so if you are planning on the coastal walk be mindful of the little ones that you may be taking.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great little pop-up camp site. Is based in a small field next to a quiet(ish) road. Nice and clean toilet and shower. Shower has hot water and made such a difference to the camping experience. There is a farmshop the other side of the road which is perfect for getting little bits, they also do cooked breakfasts/meals. Pitches are of good size, its the perfect little campsite for a weekend away.

Disliked: Could do with better lighting in the toilet and shower (there is no electric to the campsite so there a small battery lights in there that could do with being brighter). However the website does say to bring your own torch which is not a problem.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: Great shower and toilet (only one of each - so glad the site was empty). A proper flushing toilet, not a portaloo as mentioned in other reviews and all spotlessly clean - so a pleasant surprise! The water tap was a push tap, which was not great trying to fill anything, without getting soaked and wasted water. The pitches were fine - but really just a field beside quite a busy road and would have been very squashed if all had been full. Fine for a couple of nights, but quite expensive for what's on offer. That said a fantastic sunset and a lovely farmshop and cafe just down the road (Bubbleton Farm).

Disliked: Too many pitches, very close together - luckily only 3 pitches used when we were there. Only one toilet and shower - would be a problem if campsite were busy. A field right on a busy road - wouldn't want to be campig on the road side of the field, noisy first thing.

From the manager: Hi, thanks for your review, however as described very well, we are a pop up campsite within the National Parks, only allowed a toilet and shower and drinking water tap, reason why it’s a push tap in contradiction to what you said is to save water as unfortunately kids leave taps running causing draining problems and we are on a water meter. We’ve been complimented on pitch sizes so sorry you felt they were small. As far as the road issue is concerned you can clearly see on the map location where we are. Thanks for staying with us.

Local attractions

Several beaches are within walking distance of the campsite, including the dune-backed, crescent-shaped Penally beach (40 minutes’ walk or a five-minute drive), or you can turn west along the Wales Coast Path (five minutes' walk) to the sand-and-shingle cove at Lydstep Haven (15 minutes). From there, just carry on walking; after 40 minutes, Skrinkle Haven beach, encircled by steep cliffs, will hove into view. Turn east for views over to the Cistercian monastery on Caldey Island as you stroll, and you can be in the historic walled town of Tenby in about an hour. There are three sandy beaches on which to plonk yourselves down, as well as a fishing harbour and medieval castle to nose around, and colourful waterfront cottages to admire. If the kids are demanding a treat, you may like to let them be animal keepers for the day at Manor Wildlife Park (five minutes' drive). Younger offspring can run amok on the dinosaur trail at Dinosaur Park (10 minutes) or whizz around the go-kart track and wear themselves out zorbing on the pool. There’s more family fun to be had on the fairground rides at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes), where there are also big cats in spacious enclosures, penguins frolicking in their pool and cuddly ponies at the petting farm.
