Local attractions

Reward the kids for following you patiently along the coastal trail with a day at one of the several theme or animal parks in the area. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive) has traditional rides like dodgems and a Ferris wheel, while Manor Wildlife Park (10 minutes) is home to red pandas and friendly wallabies. Besides two sandy beaches, Tenby (10 minutes) has a pretty harbour area, a lifeboat station with a dramatic slipway and a green promontory topped by the ruins of Tenby Castle. From Tenby you can also take a boat ride to Caldey Island, home to a monastery and a lighthouse. With several vertiginous attractions, Oakwood Theme Park (15 minutes’ drive) is a magnet for thrill-seekers of all ages. They come to ride Speed (the fastest roller coaster in Wales) or to experience the thrill of the sky swing. If you have younger kids, there are also loads of family rides, including a rollercoaster riding through the tree canopy.
