  • Peaceful woodland pitches on a 300-acre Pembrokeshire farm
  • A 10-minute drive from Oakwood theme park; 25 mins from Barafundle Bay
  • Pitches with a firepit, picnic table and firewood provided
Peaceful Pembrokeshire nights interspersed with days packed full of beach trips, castles and family activities – that’s the plan for stays at Dragonfly Camping, 15 minutes’ drive away from both Kilgetty and Pembroke. A handy central location here puts guests within easy reach of several of south Wales’s finest beaches (including well-known stunner Barafundle Bay 25 minutes' drive away), and lots of excellent days out at the likes of Oakwood (10 minutes' drive) and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes). Days in are an option too, as the site has a ping pong table kept under cover in the communal area. The team here like to call their site ‘wild camping with perks’, as each pitch also has its own little clearing in the woods with a firepit, picnic table and shelter. A pile of firewood (sustainably sourced from the farm) is thrown in with your booking. At the centre of the site is the communal area (100 metres max from any pitch), home to an off-grid wash house (with hot showers) and a canvas-covered building with a washing-up area and a shared chest freezer where you're welcome to freeze your own ice packs. There is no daily delivery of ice packs to keep cool boxes cool.. Solar panels provide the power here so there’s no wifi or electric hook-ups but the communal area has a couple of USB charging points to keep phones topped up.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (XXL)

Liked Amazing space we had .. private ..well thought out -and such cheap prices too - where we stayed was amazing - a great private space in woodland - we had the dormouse area .. with a private fire pit- bundle of wood provided ..picnic table area under cover .. toilets/showers nearby and all for £20 .. amazing !!! it’s opened my eyes up to many new adventures - as a city girl used to hotels .. this trip we took and where we picked to stay impressed me so much .. I will most definetly be using this site again .. so much beauty - countryside -woodland etc Iv been missing out on !! A very happy guest .. 😊

Disliked Nothing .. it was a last minute on the day decision to find somewhere whilst we were in wales to stay and it was so easy to book - even for that same night .. which Is what we needed .. a lot of places wanted me to have booked the day before .but when it’s a last minute decision .. this made it so easy - booked and was in the fab woodland space we’d booked within the hour ..

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (medium)

Liked As a family, we liked everything about Dragonfly Camping. The pitches were secluded but close enough to the amenities. The place was spotless and had everything you needed, from a freezer to phone chargers, fire pits and with plenty of wood supplies. There was a tree swing and table tennis to keep the kids occupied. The location was perfect, peaceful, and in beautiful surrounding.

Disliked We did not dislike anything, we will return.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (XL)

Liked The pitches were nicely secluded and of a good size, The picnic tables were useful. Although we didn't take advantage of the fire pit, on a chillier night it would have been a pleasant addition. We enjoyed our stay finding it very relaxed and a short distance from many of the local attractions. Over all it was a good experience and would consider returning again.

Disliked One complaint we have is the unisex facilities, The units themselves were nicely complimentary to the surroundings with the wooden facias and interiors. We are not against unisex facilities, but having the wooden slatted doors with gaps between the planks didn't give the privacy you would expect to feel comfortable. The only other complaint was that the washing up area had poor water flow for the hot water boiler causing it to be intermittent, not a great issue as probably a minor fault easily rectified.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Travelled here for a 2 night stay, last minute trip for a weekend break with my partner. I can't even begin to outline how impressed I was with this campsite. Its a very small site which is pretty much 100% self catering. Clean showers and toilets that fit nicely into its rustic aesthetic. The showers are a bit noisy, but hot and plenty powerful enough.

Each pitch is enclosed and well laid out, with a shelter and firepit. Firewood was prepared for us upon our arrival however you can help yourself to more brushwood from the woodshed (with access to a saw) should you need it. The shelter was very useful seeing as there was a thunderstorm during our stay.

I almost don't want to recommend this campsite, but only for my own selfish reasons, I'd love to keep this to myself so it doesn't end up fully booked all the time!

The only issue, if you see it that way, is that there is little to no data signal, so not ideal to being kids that would rather be glued to social media.

I will certainly be back here, and I will recommend this campsite to everyone, especially for those that prefer a bit more privacy as well as a more authentic self catered camping experience.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (XXL)

Liked Absolutely everything was perfect and just as advertised. There are only a few pitches available and each pitch has their own space. We couldn't complain about anything at all. From the sheltered bench area to the rope swing, everything was great and we will 100% be back again this summer!

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (XL)

Liked This place is a little gem . Private pitches in a secluded location. .Not far from Cresswell quay . It’s certainly a place to stay for some quiet time out . The toilets and showers were clean and hot . It had washing up facilities and Mobil phone charging point . The under cover benches on each pitch are definitely a bonus along with the fire pits . I’ve already booked two more stays !

Local attractions

First port of call for all should be Cresswell Quay, 10 minutes' walk away – home to the local pub and a great place for watching boats bob about or launching your own kayaks. Carry on the coastal vibe by planning trips to some of Pembrokeshire’s spectacular beaches: the traditional resort of Tenby (20 minutes’ drive), famed Barafundle Bay (25 minutes) and Freshwater West (half an hour), home to surf waves and a cracking mobile café, are some of the top picks. If Pembrokeshire’s beaches are famed, then so (quite rightly) are its castles. Lovely lakeside Carew Castle is the closest at just over five minutes’ drive, and it’s also worth taking a look at those in Pembroke (15 minutes) and Manorbier (20 minutes). Should the kids be demanding a bit more adventure in their lives, shuttle them off for days out at Oakwood theme park or the waterpark at Bluestone Resort (both 10 minutes’ drive), or to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities (both 15 minutes’ drive).
