  • Family-run site situated on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
  • Direct access to Porthsele beach; a mile from Whitesands
  • Farm shop, coffee hut, bar and pizzas available in high season
Fancy a stay on a family-run farm… with direct access to a beach below? Make your way to Pencarnan Farm Caravan and Camping Site, a 96-acre farm overlooking Porthsele beach on the Pembrokeshire coast. The site is on the most western tip of Pembrokeshire, with views of St Georges Channel connecting the Irish and Celtic seas. You'll be in good company with a stay here: generations of the same family have been running the site since the mid-1950s, a holiday spot for guests who return year after year – some with their kids and grandkids now in tow. This place is just the ticket for outdoor adventures too, as it's set directly above Porthsele beach (with private vehicle access so you can cart all your kit along with you). The sea and bay are safe for swimming and kayaking, and there are plenty of rockpools to explore at low tide. If you haven’t got your fill of sea breeze, surfing beach Whitesands is a one-mile walk along the coastal path or, if you’re feeling adventurous, a half-mile swim or kayak from Porthsele. Sorting supplies is easy at the farm too: in the high season, a site shop is on hand with camping and food supplies, wetsuits and logs for beach fires, and a coffee hut opens every day. A bar and pizzas are also available at peak times.

What customers say

Pencarnan Farm boasts a stunning coastal location with direct beach access and spectacular sea views, offering a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors praise the spacious pitches, friendly staff, and well-equipped courtyard with a shop, cafe, bar, and popular pizza outlet. Facilities are generally considered good and clean, though some mention them as being dated. While many highlight the exceptional views and convenient access to coastal walks and St David's, occasional issues with water supply, wind exposure, and pitch pricing were noted. The site is highly recommended for its beach access and family-friendly vibe.

Beach Field non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked we all really loved this place, awesome views of the coast and beaches! access to beach is a very short stroll , had a lovely beach bbq. the site has a shop, coffee shop, bar and pizza's in the evening.

Disliked only thing that annoyed us was the pizza boys messed up and i waited and hour in the cold wind for pizzas we had pre ordered hours ago, when i finally got back to hungry children the pizza's weren't even cooked properly! and looked a state! the garlic pizza was just covered in raw garlic chunks and the boy couldn't eat it. BUT this was NOT the fault of the campsite but the pizza outlet .

Disliked Toilet and shower block-dirty and covered in bird poo. This is the only area that lets the site down. Ceiling needs a good clean and tidy up.

Beach Field non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked It was our first visit to Pencarnan Farm and we were not disappointed! The courtyard offers a lovely atmosphere all day round with ample seating and excellent WiFi. There is also the bar, cafe, pizza place and shop based here making everything very easily accessible - so don’t worry if you forget anything, they will have you covered! We were also really grateful for the ice pack swap which allowed you to freeze your ice packs free of charge, very handy and something we’ve never come across at other campsites.

The toilet/shower facilities are really good and they even have hair dryers outside for you to use! Although we do recommend you shower earlier rather than later as the water can get very cold in the evenings!

We stayed on the beach view campsite and the view from there is something you will never tire of! You are less than a 5 minute walk from the beach and the courtyard, and it has drinking water available from the tap near the entrance of the field.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs right past the campsite offering you some incredible walks and some very peaceful places to watch the sunset.

The highlight of our stay has to be the private beach. It caters for all, from swimmers to paddle boarders to families to dogs. We took our golden retriever who had the best time running free around the beach and swimming in the sea! We were even lucky enough to spot a seal whilst we were out swimming.

Everyone we met were really lovely and we have already decided we will be booking again next year and staying for longer! Thank you so much for winning our hearts over with your lovely campsite, we look forward to seeing you soon 🫶🏻

Liked Absolutely loved Pencarnan, it was our first time camping as a family of four and the site was beautiful and had everything we needed. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Already looking at booking for next summer for longer this time.

Disliked Not a dislike as such, more of a wish, more options for the pizza bar, perhaps chips/wedges could be added to the menu? Only because I seem to have the only child in the world who doesn’t like any form of pizza.

Liked Pitch was good level and sheltered
Staff helpful and pleasant great service in shop, bar and pizza, toilets clean and presentable at all times

Disliked Very disappointed in the showers this time. Most of them only run for about 5 seconds max before they cut off and were tepid at best a few times cold. Only one of cubicles ran for about 30 seconds and people were queuing to get that shower. The spray heads were set very high and literally everthing got soaked no matter how high u hung it. It was very hot in the day during my stay and at times it was quite nice to have a cooler shower but on a chillier day was a miserable experience.

Local attractions

This is heaven for beach buffs: Porthsele and Whitesands beaches are both within walking distance of Pencarnan. At Porthsele, take your pick from kayaking, surfing and paddleboarding from its sandy shore; if fishing's more your bag you can fish for mackerel, pollock and seabass from the beach and from certain points on the cliff around Pencarnan's land. There are also a few marked climbing spots around the cliffs on the land and some good entry points for coasteering or a coastal swim back to Porthsele beach… followed back at base with a sunset beach fire or barbecue to end the day. The famed surfing centre of Whitesands, a mile away on the coast path from Pencarnan, has a café, deckchairs and wetsuit hire, plus lifeguards in the summer months. Heading south, St Justinian’s (under a mile away along the coast path) is home to RNLI St Davids Lifeboat Station and a departure point for boat trips around, onto and beyond Ramsey Island to spy seals, seabirds, porpoises, whales, dolphins and sharks. Make time too for a trip to the tiny city of St Davids, to browse its shops and galleries and take a look at sixth-century St Davids Cathedral.
