General
- Small family-run fishery and site in scenic west Wales countryside
- A five-minute drive to Bronant village and 15 to Tregaron market town
- Two coarse fishing lakes and two fly fishing lakes
The owners of family-run Fron Farm Fishery reckon you need to be lucky to catch the crafty 40-pound carp that lives in one of its four large lakes… So if you think you have what it takes to reel him in, book a stay at this site in spectacular west Wales countryside a 20-minute drive from the Ceredigion coast.
As you might have guessed from the name, this park is ace for anglers: its bodies of water range from an acre in size up to two and a half, and include a couple of naturally spring-fed lakes replenished regularly with rainbow, blue and native brown trout. Also on the grounds are two other coarse lakes filled with smaller fish as well as carp (including that elusive 40-pounder…).
This peaceful and family-friendly park’s a first-rate spot for getting up close with other animals as well – it’s in a wildlife haven surrounded by hedgerows, with red kites often flying overhead and dragonflies skimming over the ponds. There’s ample room all around for impromptu games of cricket, and lots of trails in the lush local countryside mean even more green space to explore whether on walks or cycle rides.
Also at the park is a small shower block (heated to guard against chilly toes), and washing-up facilities are on hand too. The nearest pub in the village of Bronant, about a five-minute drive away. Please note that the ground here is a little uneven and slopes gently in places, so you may not have a completely flat pitch.

If arriving from the north, ignore your satnav if it sends you to Devil's Bridge. Instead continue to Aberystwyth, then reset the satnav.
Local attractions
Mosey to the market at Tregaron (15 minutes' drive from the site), location of the 2020 Eisteddfod and a fine place to browse farm-fresh food or indulge your inner magpie at the Welsh Gold Centre; other settlements to spy hereabouts include Aberystwyth (half an hour) for its 13th-century castle ruins, busy harbour and townhouse-lined seafront, as well as a renowned art centre and the National Library of Wales.
This top town’s also the launching point for the Vale of Rheidol Railway, which whisks visitors over to Devils Bridge inland for the spectacular waterfalls. If you’d rather stay close to the seaside, try the beach at Llanrhystud (20 minutes) or roam further south-east towards Aberaeron (25 minutes) to follow sandy times at its shoreline with browsing the local craft shops.
Didn’t spot any red kites back at the park? Twitching is to be had at Cors Caron National Nature Reserve (20 minutes), where you can look out for the famed creatures while also attempting to sight some of the other 170 winged species that call this area home.
