General

  • Small family-run fishery and site in the Welsh countryside
  • Two coarse lakes with rainbow, blue and brown trout
  • Two coarse lakes with carp up to 40lb

Fron Farm Fishery is a small family-run fishery and campsite between Bontnewydd and Bronant in the spectacular Welsh countryside, in a peaceful place for relaxing family stays.

The site is in a wildlife haven surrounded by hedgerows and nature including red kites overhead and dragonflies skimming over the lakes. Excellent fishing is available on site, but the area is also popular for walking, cycling or exploring the countryside by car.

This is a small campsite, with a small shower block and washing-up facilities, but with lots of room to play and relax. The local shop and pub are in Bronant which is a mile and a half away.

There are four large lakes on site, ranging from one to two and a half acres in size. They include two naturally spring fed trout lakes are abundant with fish and are replenished regularly with rainbow, blue and native brown trout. In the two coarse lakes are a variety of smaller coarse fish and carp up to 40lb: although the carp in the 20lb range are caught regularly, the 40lb carp is older and wiser so does not get caught easily... come and try your luck.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

It was an idyllic spot, with the lakes, trees and hills to look out on. The pitch was flat and we just had to drive straight in. The toilets were clean and well looked after. the owner was very friendly and helpful. This was one of our first trips in our camper and we would not hesitate to go back.

    Disliked:

The weather was not good to us but who can help that.

The scenery around the site is beautiful. The facilities weren't anything special, but nor was that expected. They were clean and everything appeared well maintained and in working order. The fishing lakes were lovely, though we didn't actually do any fishing ourselves. The host was friendly and helpful. Amazing price, would visit again.

    Disliked:

It is quite a way from the nearby towns, and a little difficult to find. However, both of those things were expected upon booking, and it is signposted!

We arrived Friday 26th May and was quickly met by the owner who showed us around and explained the facilities. Such a lovely friendly chap. We had electric hook up and was on the top field which was great for us and water supply right by the tent so we didn't need to fill up a water container. Huge big ponds for fishing at an extra fee ni t expensive hubby gutted he didn't bring his fishing gear. For us surrounded by green fields was perfect and gutted we only had 3 nights there definitely will return with fishing gear! Toilet and shower adequate and clean. Little washing area for dishes again clean and adequate. Just loved Fron Farm and deffo will stay again.

Few benches around and we asked for one on the top field and it was placed there on our return from chippy. Very friendly owners and can't recommend this site enough.

From the manager...

Sorry the pitch was double booked it was an unfortunate error on our part due to a family emergency, where I was away for a few weeks and husband didn't look in the diary. This will not happen again as we have up dated the our booking system

We arrived late almost 10pm, the owner was most accomodating.
Views were great, surrounded by trees and the fishing lakes in a very rural location.
    Hard standing
A basic site with electric hookup, toilet and shower, the drive to it is off the beaten track
The owners were very nice and made sure we were OK with the pitch and showed us where the water was etc.
The price, very reasonable, and open all year.

Local attractions

When you're ready to explore all that Ceredigion and Cardigan Bay have to offer, the site is just six miles from Tregaron and the beach at Llanrhystud, and only 12 miles from Aberystwyth.

Visit the historic market town of Tregaron, home of the Welsh Gold Centre and its still busy market. The area is a popular destination for walkers with natural beauty all around and the Cors Caron Nature Reserve has over 170 species of birds for birdspotting opportunities: see if you can spot the famous red kite in flight.

You can also take in the sites of Aberystwyth a short drive away with its thirteenth century castle ruins, busy harbour and seafront.

Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Aberaeron are only half an hour away. Aberystwyth is a seaside and university town with an abundance of local stores, as well as the cliff railway. It's also the start of the Rheidol Railway to Devils Bridge and has a well-known art centre and the National Library of Wales.

Aberaeron is an old village with harbour and beach, and local craft shops. Lampeter is also a small town, with a university and a good range of shops. If you want to explore further afield, try New Quay, Cardigan and Carmarthen.

There are local golf courses, cycle routes and horse riding all within half an hour's drive.
