General

  • Family park less than a mile from the beach at Borth
  • Less than five miles from Aberystwyth
  • Indoor pool, bowling alley, restaurant, food shop and playground

Whether it’s whizzing down the flume, splashing about in the indoor pool, or bowling around the mini ten-pin alley, there’s plenty to keep younger members of the family occupied at Brynowen Holiday Park. The site sits in prime west Wales countryside, less than a mile from the beach, so the view from here is pretty engaging too...

Brynowen is part of the Parkdean Resorts group, so guests benefit from the usual wide range of activities and entertainment, including kids’ clubs for all ages, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and evening fun such as cabaret, live bands, competitions and theme nights.

The park also has a restaurant and a takeaway, a food shop, a TV room and a games room.

This site is a member of Parkdean Resorts group.

The night time entertainment was very good i cannot fault that.

    Disliked:

The touring ground hard standing for the caravan was OK but the surrounding grass was very water logged.

The shower and toilets for the caravans in my expectations too far away as they where near the entertainment block, for the males the shower block consisted of 4 sinks in a line, two toilets and a 1 shower in essence to serve 16 caravan plots!
on arrival on the Tuesday they where moving statics around and so the main access road to tow the caravan down was blocked by a low loader. subsequently i had to squeeze the car and van between parked cars that where on the service road to the static caravans.

the laundry drier that i used was on the blink reception did refund me £4 of the 6 that i spent

Go somewhere else, or just park and use the pool 27/07/2017

    the pool and Borth

    Disliked:

There was a unmarked electric distribution box in the middle of the touring pitch site, the GRP had badly degraded and the children aged 7 and 9 were using it as a base for a game of tag. They came running back to the motor-home and they both had a very itchy rash on their arms and hands from loose GRP fibres which had entered their skin. Washing failed to remove the fibres and only 2 hours in the swimming pool brought things back to normal. I reported the hazard and the box was eventually covered with black plastic bags, but not till 3 hours later! The general use toilet block was stinking, filthy and a health hazard, unfit for use, the type you would expect to encounter in a third world country. The pitch area was very noisy with dogs barking half the night, my 3 year old was the only one to sleep through the night.

    The area ideal for walking

    Disliked:

The touring part is horrible , tiny pitches and I mean tiny when caravan was over hanging by around 3/4 ft. (And my caravan was only 18ft.) Toilets and showers really really basic. As if the touring part was a late after thought

    Pool area and clubhouse good.

    Disliked:

Touring area seems to be an afterthought. Area very waterlogged on arrival and throughout my stay, no drains visible. Pitch was tarmac and very small, only 7 x 3 metres so caravan overhung by 2 feet at the rear. (a motorhome and twin axle caravan also arrived and they overhung the bases by about 6 feet) Water supply tap was not secured and waved about. Did call in the office to complain but no manager on duty, left my number and was told I would be contacted Tuesday by a manager, but wasn't. 2 workmen turned up at the water tap in a buggy 15 minutes after I left the office. Sat there pointing and gesticulating for 1 minute then drove off again.

    Borth
    Swimming pool
    Bar area
    Local super market
Walkable restaurants and pubs in Borth
    Local area
Reception, and bar staff hard working
They cater very well, for their static caravan guests.
Wifi worked well, when paid for.
If we had stayed in a static van, this would be a very different report.

    Disliked:

No road drains, flooded areas when it rains
Large areas of surface water when it rains
    We saw rats
The chemical loo disposal point was blocked when needed
Area used by work crews, vans, appear perminent fixtures.
No loo roll in any of the toilets all week.
The ablution blocks are very shabby, never locked when we were there, and used by workmen.
They should give up on their touring caravan site. Or manage it properly.
Do not be put off Borth, but seriously, if your touring, stay somewhere else.
The road noise stops late evening, but starts from 7 am

Local attractions

Right on the doorstep in Borth is the Animalarium, a small zoo which nonetheless has some big draws - leopards, caimans and lemurs among others.

It’s a short drive from Brynowen Holiday Park to Aberystwyth, where the main attractions include the beach, mile-long prom, pier and castle ruins.

Here, daytrippers can also hop aboard the steamy Vale of Rheidol Railway, which has been transporting tourists through ruggedly beautiful terrain to Devil’s Bridge since 1902.

From Aberystwyth, it’s a worthwhile fifteen-minute detour to Llwernog to explore its eighteenth century silver mine, where you can even get stuck in and do some panning of your own.

Another popular destination is King Arthur's Labyrinth in Corris, a warren of atmospheric underground tunnels, caverns and waterfalls.

Must see

  • Vale of Rheidol Railway (Aberystwyth) (4.8 miles)
  • Rheilffordd Talyllyn Railway (7.5 miles)
  • MOMA Wales - Y Tabernacl (11.4 miles)
