  • Woodland glampsite at Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire, South West Wales

  • Off-grid, pre-erected bell tents; pubs and shops 10 minutes’ drive
Hidden away in Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire, The Grove Y’Gelli is a woodland glampsite on a 10-acre smallholding. It’s a no-frills sort of place for anyone who likes to be out in nature and among birdsong and wildlife, but prefers to hire a pre-pitched tent and craves a proper bed to retire to at the end of the night. Your dogs are very welcome to join your Welsh camping adventure, which might also include watching spectacular sunsets while on site, and hunkering down for some serious star-gazing after dark on clear nights. The bell tents are set on a hillside with views over the river Teifi and its valley. They all have comfortable double beds, fold-out bed chairs for extra guests, outdoor seating and a firepit. Everything from bed linen to cups, plates, cutlery and kitchen utensils are provided so you don’t have to lug loads of stuff from home. What you will need to bring, though, is a torch for after-dark wanderings, as the site is off-grid. Please note there’s no wifi signal either, so be prepared for a total digital detox. The nearest town Lampeter (10 minutes’ drive), is packed with cafés, pubs and takeaways as well as a couple of museums, the Welsh Quilt Centre and the university campus – Grove Y’Gelli is a handy spot to lay your head if you’re visiting friends or family at the university.

Bell tent

Liked: A quiet get away from it all site. Lovely woodland walk, very peaceful and beautiful scenery all around the site. Host fantastic and made the site as eco as possible. Bell tents cosy and very comfortable, the tents are spaced out so no intrusion on others privacy. Fire pit cooking, logs and cooking equipment provided. Thank you to the hosts for making this the ideal get away site.

Bell tent

Liked: Everything! Fantastic night away where everything had been thought of. Loved the comfort of our bell tent - all had an amazing nights sleep. Our surroundings were perfect - beautiful sunset and star gazing. The children loved exploring and cooking over the fire pit. Convenient toilet next to the tent, and lots of fresh water provided. We will be booking for longer next time.
