  • Peaceful family-friendly site in scenic Carmarthenshire countryside
  • Five minutes’ drive from Llandeilo and 45 minutes from Swansea
  • A 10-minute drive to the Brecon Beacons; Llansteffan beach 40 minutes
Excellent hols await at Brynhyfryd Farm, a family-friendly site just outside the rural town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. The site owners take pride in and pleasure in running and maintaining their park and amenities, to keep everything clean and tidy throughout so that guests have the best possible stay. This is a top spot for peaceful getaways: the site’s been kept small and guest numbers are restricted, so there’s no fighting with the neighbour about awnings and no struggling to find a patch of grass to unwind on – just lots of green space to spread out in. That’s good news for the dog too, as there’s plenty of room for naps (and an adjacent field is well placed for walkies). It’s not just the four-legged variety that are in easy reach for walkies: the site is surrounded by hills and fields, the Brecon Beacons National Park is less than 10 minutes from base for hiking (and biking and trekking) trails, and the Dark Sky Reserve makes night wanders particularly spectacular. For further-flung adventures, join the 177-mile Offa’s Dyke Path a little over an hour away in Hay-on-Wye – it might just be an Offa you can’t refuse… If a lazy day is needed, stick closer to base with an easy 20-minute stroll into Llandeilo, home to the spectacular National Trust property of Dinefwr, with Dinefwr Castle and Newton House – one of the most haunted houses in Wales – there to explore. There are a couple of pubs in Llandeilo serving food too, so nip in on the way back to the site for a quick (or leisurely) bite.

What customers say

This is a peaceful, well-maintained campsite with spacious, level pitches and beautiful countryside views. Owners are consistently praised for being friendly and helpful. Facilities, while basic, are kept very clean. Its convenient location allows for easy walking access to Llandeilo and offers a good base for sightseeing. Some minor points for improvement were noted regarding dated facilities and wash-up areas.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely quiet open site just a 10 minute walk from Llandeilo.
Plenty of space on the pitches and lots of open space for kids to play etc.

Disliked The toilet block is dated and could do with a refurb but really it's more than adequate and perfectly reasonable given the pitch prices.

Liked Quiet site, well laid out, pitches are quite large.

Disliked The toilet block needs replacing, it’s clean but not up to modern standards, the toilet waste point is not up to standard, talking to the owner sounds like he has plans for the site but at the moment it needs work

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Had a lovely stay. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings, with a really peaceful atmosphere throughout. The facilities were very clean and well looked after, which made everything feel comfortable and welcoming. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, always happy to chat and make sure guests had everything they needed. A great place to unwind.

Disliked A couple of small improvements could make the stay even better — the outside wash-up area could do with some shelter, especially when washing up in the rain, and the dog walking area was a little overgrown during our visit.

Local attractions

Carmarthenshire is a particularly scenic part of Wales, with busy market towns, high mountains, scenic valleys and – of course – serene beaches to entice. Maybe hols aren’t complete without a day of sea and sandcastles? Handily, Llansteffan beach is a 40-minute drive from base and the Langland Bay beaches are within an hour. This is a prime spot for history buffs: as well as Dinefwr, the site is within easy reach of the ruins of Dryslwyn Castle and Talley Abbey (10 minutes), the castle and gardens at Carreg Cennen (15 minutes), and the Roman and Victorian gold mines of Dolaucothi (20 minutes). And if that’s tantalised taste buds for more below-ground adventuring, the National Showcaves Centre is 50 minutes away. Those who prefer to stay in the fresh air might be keen to take a turn around the fab Aberglasney Gardens (five minutes from the site) – made famous by the BBC’s A Garden Lost in Time – or to pay a visit to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, 20 minutes from base.
