  • Luxury glamping just outside Llandeilo, with views of the Towy Valley
  • A 15-minute drive from National Botanic Garden; 40 from the coast
  • Central heating, ensuite bathroom and deck with barbecue
Take it easy surrounded by the gorgeous green countryside… looking out over the Towy Valley, Cilsane Lodges is a Carmarthenshire glamping site with some splendid scenery, about 10 minutes’ drive from Llandeilo. Everything here is geared up for luxury: the bedding is top-notch, the towels are fluffy and guests are provided with toiletries for the ensuite bathroom (which has a power shower, of course). You’ll stay in a cosy lodge with central heating and a comfy double bed (plus a double sofa bed for any extra folk you may be bringing along). Well-behaved, house trained dogs are welcome to stay too. Outside is a deck with fab views and seating to settle in while you take it all in. Just the place for a cup of tea or an outdoor meal perhaps? Yep, the owners agree with you there – there’s a barbecue out on the deck, and guests will arrive to a hamper of yummy goodies and everything you need for cups of tea, coffee and hot chocolate (and, they say, ‘a little something to get your holiday started with…’) The lodge is totally enclosed in its own private garden area and with its own drive; guests can also wander off to sit by the wildlife pond, watch the chickens and ducks going about their business or play some of the handmade outdoor games. Nearby there are lots of splendid places to go for a walk (Dinefwr Castle, Carreg Cennen Castle and the Nation Botanic Garden among them) and a good cluster of places to eat or pick up takeaway treats in Llandeilo.

Local attractions

If it’s historical places that ignite your imagination, then you’ll be in a good place to get exploring. Perhaps the Grade II-listed Newton House at Dinefwr Castle (10 minutes’ drive) or the restored medieval grounds at Aberglasney Gardens (five minutes) that are now famed for their splendid gardens, arts or crafts events and tea rooms? With the 13th-century Dryslwyn Castle (10 minutes), the hilltop Paxton’s Tower (15 minutes) and the former Premonstratensians monastery at Talley Abbey (20 minutes) also close by, you’ll be nicely positioned for more bites of knowledge. That includes a dip into the cool Carreg Cennen Castle (20 minutes) and its cave. When it’s time to switch things up with some action, you could opt for beach ball games and climbs to the top of the castle tower overlooking Llansteffan beach (40 minutes) or tear up hiking, cycling and mountain biking tracks around Llyn Llech Owain Country Park (15 minutes). For places you’ll happily potter around, check out the colourful houses and independent shops in pretty Llandeilo (10 minutes) or all the shades and smells of the plants around the National Botanic Garden of Wales (15 minutes).
