  • Pitches with spectacular views in a valley near Llandeilo
  • A 50-minute drive to Aberaeron beach; the Brecon Beacons 40 minutes
  • Communal firepit and walks on site; pubs and shops 10 minutes’ drive
Set in a secluded and private 420-acre valley in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, Cefn Blaidd pitches have views over the Brecon Beacons, the Cothi Valley and Talley village, with its ruined abbey and lakes. This is a spot for dedicated solitude lovers, as this is a place where you can get lost in woodlands and meadows, and explore stone circles and lakes without leaving the site. Other activities include self-guided nature tours (ask the owners for more info), and as this place is so remote, clear nights see the Milky Way appear on the horizon. Then it’s time to cosy up around a campfire and do some serious stargazing – you can buy firewood and eco-firelighters on the farm – but please bear in mind that there are no lights on site, so do remember to pack torches and headlamps. Pick up barbecue bits in the convenience stores in Llandeilo (10 minutes’ drive), where you’ll also find a whole raft of takeaways and a couple of pubs if you’d rather get someone else to do the cooking. Simple facilities back on site run to compost toilets and a communal firepit at the main campsite, which is accessible by car. In winter, guests have use of a barn with electric power, charging stations and a kettle, plus sofas for chilling when the weather turns against you. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please keep them on leads as there are horses, sheep, and other dogs around, as well as all the wildlife.
