  • Half an hour from the coast for walks, beaches and activities
  • A few minutes' walk from family-friendly local pub
What draws you to west Wales for your hols? Beaches, perhaps? Leisurely days walking on quiet rural trails or active ones by the coast? Charging around the area’s many castles, maybe, or fab days out at the theme parks and other family-friendly attractions round these parts? Settle in for a stay at Firecrest Valley Camping and Glamping and you can pick and choose whatever combo suits your style, for all the above options are within easy reach of this peaceful place in the Teifi Valley, 10 minutes’ drive from Newcastle Emlyn. (Even better news: if days out have exhausted your energies, there’s a pub just a few minutes’ trot from the site for restorative pints and grub). Life on site is pretty peaceful – bell tents are set up ready for you to move into, and there’s heaps of space in which to relax, with some fab views and wildlife to spot (including the resident red kites). Each tent has a firepit/barbecue and picnic bench for excellent outdoor evenings, and there's also a shared kitchen and stretch tent with undercover seating. Canine pals are welcomed on site too, and can dash about at the designated dog-walking area. This is an eco-friendly site with eco toilets and eco-friendly products used exclusively across the site. The site is almost completely off grid, with water supplied from the natural springs and solar power in use where possible.

Local attractions

There are plenty of places to stretch your legs around here: trot out from Firecrest Valley to amble along the banks of the Teifi river, or take a 15-minute drive for a wander round Cenarth Falls (where you might spot leaping salmon in season). For sea-view strolls, it’ll take you around 25 minutes to drive to Aberporth to pick up the Wales Coast Path (although it’s possible you may decide to settle on the beach here instead). That stretch of coast is quite the hub for active options, too – sea kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering are popular picks, as is cantering through the surf on horseback. If it’s something less strenuous you seek, maybe try a dolphin-spotting boat trip from Gwbert, 40 minutes away. On dry land, there are castles to conquer (Cardigan and Cilgerran castles are both about half an hour away) and plenty of kid-friendly days out including Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and the Blue Lagoon Water Park, all of which are within an hour’s drive.
