Hardstanding seasonal pitch

  • Small, rural and no-smoking site a couple miles from the coast
  • A five-minute drive from Llansteffan beach and castle
  • Bar on site with occasional live music/food nights on weekends
Walks in west Wales and pet-friendly stays in a peaceful country setting… what a lovely location is Laugharne View Caravan Site, a strict no-smoking site. Bringing a dog along or not, this park on a working smallholding has spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Caldey Island, so it’s a first-rate place for a break soaking up the Carmarthenshire scenery. With paths to ply all around, it’s also a splendid spot for walks that should appeal to those on four legs or two – it’s possible to potter over to Llansteffan, a couple of miles away, directly from the park for visits to a wide sandy beach (make sure to check for seasonal restrictions if you're taking a dog) as well as a castle that dates back to the 12th century. From there, you might choose to extend your walk on the coast path or settle on the beach to fish for flounders and bass. More interested in strolls that result in supper? A pub is within a five-minute walk, and the eateries of Carmarthen – the oldest town in Wales – are just over 20 minutes away by car. If you've got a bit more time in town, ride on the antique Gwili Steam Railway into the hinterlands of the country or stay in Carmarthen to browse the boutiques. If you’re firmly sticking to country pursuits, stay on site to peer at the chickens on the farm, take the dog for a run around the spacious grounds, or set up a camping chair and use the wifi to help build tomorrow’s itinerary. You might also like to pick up a couple of drinks from the site's Hayday bar to complete the picture… The amenities at Laugharne View Caravan Site include a toilet block and a basic shower block. Please note that there is a non-smoking (and no vaping in family areas) policy in place at this site and that some parts of the site are adults-only.

Liked: Pretty site with lovely views, friendly owners. Kettle and microwave a great help when cooking for one. Stayed couple times before but first time on my own and felt safe. Liked that don’t have to leave untill 11. Can’t comment on the bar or activities as not managed to get there on a weekend yet but looks nice .

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)

Liked: Stunning location, views breathtaking. Hosts lovely and friendly, great facilities, shower and loo clean, and decent size shower cubicle. We arrived on the Saturday and the on-site bar had live music, and great draft cider. Unbelievable amount of space to walk the dogs off the lead, they enjoyed it as much as we did. We took a short walk to The Farmers Arms for a meal on the Monday, well worth a visit as food was faultless. We would definitely recommend Laugharne View. Thank you Sian and Matt.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Spectacular views on a peaceful well cared for site. Nothing to dislike. Might like to clarify the availability of wifi or not. In the description of the site it says there is wifi but we weren't given or could find the code anywhere. Did not see our hosts at all to ask, not a problem just would've liked to know. Don't let this put you off a special lovely site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review. There is wifi onsite but you do need to request the code. All guests will have our contact details on their booking email if they do need anything. Your review isn't quite accurate and I did personally meet and greet you upon arrival and came back out to check on yourself shortly after you arrived. Potential guests please note: We do meet and greet guests upon arrival ( or as soon as we are onsite). We tend not to check up on guests every day throughout their stay but do regularly walk the site and mow etc, as was the case during this stay. Our wifi is complimentary but is sometimes unavailable which is why it is not promoted. It is also not suitable for streaming/gaming.

As the site is in a rural area, the postcode covers a wide area. The site advises you not to solely use the postcode to find the site. They suggest arriving via the bus route (227 Carmarthen) through the village of Llansteffan and then follow signs for Llanybri. Local attractions

While Laugharne’s visible from the park, it’s a 25-minute drive away around the estuary to this pretty village famed for its castle and poet Dylan Thomas’ writing shed. For more of the area's history, National Trust attractions further away – like the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (an hour’s drive) and the handsome house and park at Dinefwr (50 minutes) – should also feature on your to-do list. Also inland are many adventures, including the mountain biking trails of Brechfa Forest (55 minutes); swing back to the seaside and cycle more sedately along the Millennium Coastal Path if thrill-seeking on two wheels sounds a little bit too much for your tastes. Of course, you’re also never far from the coast in this part of Wales… Pembrey Country Park’s miles and miles of sandy beach are a 45-minute drive away, and the shorelines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are also less than an hour away.
