What customers say
Pitches are generously sized and well-maintained, with many guests praising the clean facilities, particularly the toilets and showers. Fishing is a major draw, with several lakes available. The on-site bar and cafe receive positive mentions for food and atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the peaceful and relaxed environment, the friendly staff, and the presence of goats. Some minor issues were noted, including occasional cold water and the need for additional shower/toilet facilities, though a new block is under construction.

Excellent site, friendly staff, great food and drink, free fishing
Madoc Lake fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (waterside)
Liked We had a pitch overlooking one of the ponds which had a lovely view. The pitch was very spacious plenty of room for the caravan, awning and car.
The pub on site was ideal and the food was excellent. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.
I took the fishing rods to try some fishing and to my surprise the peg was free while we had a pitch, I expected to pay extra for the fishing.
Really enjoyed the stay and am planning to return later this year.

Lovely family friendly site
Madoc Lake fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (waterside)
Liked We had a lovely stay at this peaceful, family-friendly site. The pitches are really spacious, giving everyone plenty of room to relax, and everything is kept immaculately clean.
The staff were all friendly and always happy to help, whether it was answering questions or just having a chat—they really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
Our boys absolutely loved Pablo’s pizzas, which quickly became a highlight of the trip, and the fishing was great too—perfect for unwinding and keeping the kids entertained. There’s a great balance here of activities and relaxation, so it never feels too busy or too quiet.
We also visited Erddig National Trust, just a 20-minute drive away, which was a fantastic day out for the whole family. The grounds are beautiful, and there’s plenty to explore, making it well worth the visit.
Overall, it’s a brilliant site for families looking for a relaxing break with plenty to do nearby. We’ll definitely be returning in the future.

Plenty of facilities but expensive.Customer service could be better.
Fishing Canal electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked Toilets and shower room was very clean.Site was pretty quiet, probably due to the early season, and the mixed weather.Good facilities although we didn't need to use much as we were self contained.Tried twice to go the bar in the evenings (both times appeared to be closed) but couldn't see any staff about,Even shouted, but nobody came.
Warm welcome when we arrived though, and staff member explained rules for fishing etc.My second time here (came last summer).Prices have gone up which may put me off in future.
Disliked Prices have increased which could be off-putting.Lack of visible staff around bar/reception area at times.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, sorry you feel the price increase and coming out of season would stop you from visiting again. We did not open officially until Easter weekend which is when the seasonal staff started back. The £5 increase is obviously due to electricity price increase, thought the price does include fishing which is normally £10 and Pitch Up take 15%.

Liked Great site will definitely return! Lovely clean and well kept site, flat pitches and great Fishing which we enjoyed despite the bitterly cold few days. Appreciated the steaming hot water in the toilets and spotlessly clean. Didn’t experience any issues with WiFi, kids didn’t want to leave
