  • Well-maintained Anglesey pitches on a family-run working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Parys Mountain; 20 minutes to Benllech beach
  • Very short walk to local pub; five minutes' drive to Amlwch
Up at the top end of the Isle of Anglesey is generally a great place to take a peaceful holiday – but it gets even better when there’s a local pub a mere 50 yards away. And that’s the situation you’ll find yourself in when you stay at Cae Ffynnon, part of a working farm about five minutes’ drive inland from Amlwch. Pitches at this small family-run site are well maintained and well located, within easy reach of walking trails, bike paths, beaches, boat trips and the port at Holyhead (about half an hour’s drive away for those boarding a ferry to Ireland). And of course there’s that village pub a short walk away for a good feed and a welcome pint after your day out. You’ll have plenty of space to spread out on your pitch when you’re staying here, and you’ll be provided with some handy amenities including an electric hookup and picnic bench for each pitch. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area and you’re welcome to bring dogs and kids along for a stay here. Being so close to Amlwch means that you’ll have easy enough access to shops and places to eat (and the beach…) despite your peaceful immediate surroundings.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: There was no one at the site or reception. The site was not in the best order. Reception area like a scrap yard. Did not stay.

From the manager: So sorry to read you're review you must have got on the wrong site, we don't have a scrapyard on our site but we do have builders building the new toilets and showers block shame you will never see the finished work. We will keep you're details for future reference.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Owner was very friendly and helpful, quiet campsite, reasonably priced. Shower is free. Basic but it's what we like.

Disliked: Only one toilet and shower but was absolutely fine with the amount of people that were there the night we were and didn't affect us.

From the manager: Thankyou for you're review on you're next visit we will have the new toilets and showers built its the weather that has been holding the project back.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Vacancy availability (but on arrival soon realised why) Len was a nice fella tho.

Disliked: Tatty, very dated, building waste all around entrance looked a mess and cement bags in the kitchen in the way and had to pay £1 each time to use a tiny, mouldy walled broken pathetic shower with insects and slugs sliming up the wall and a rotten doorframe howling freezing cold air through. not very impressed, for what we thought... Summer prices for an off peak stay. Generally very unkept, as if no one loves it anymore. Which we felt is a real shame because it has some good potential

From the manager: I'm sorry that you gave the site very poor review, you obviously had not read the site descriptions we are a small rural site not the Rits if any body has a problem on site then talk to me while you are on site not go away and give a poor review if you take time and look ar the previous review which are 10out of10 for the same site. Regarding the cement bags in the back of the kitchen area we are in the process of building a brand new toilets and showers block, the builders should have removed them when they stopped work fir the festivities. It's a shame that you will never see the finished work showers and toilets including new doors, I can only advice you to look at the site description in future so that you don't have to slag off another site.

A great no frills site as advertised.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Just returned from a two night stay at Cae Ffynnon, The site was everything that was advertised so no complaints. As the site is advertised, it is a low budget site with one toilet and shower which were fine. The facilities are a little dated but functional. Due to the time of year we had the site to ourselves so no problems with waiting for the shower etc. The site was lovely and quiet and had The Ring pub/restaurant nearby if you want some food or drink. Although we didn't go it looked lovely from outside. The site is located to the North of the Island so we didn't have far to explore the north coast towns. We went from Amlwch towards Cemaes, Bull and Trearddur Bays, all were lovely with great views and fantastic beaches. The owner appeared friendly when he came for the outstanding balance for the two nights. He left us to it when there which we prefer - so all good. All was good and we would return if we wanted a low budget and functional site.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike - all was as advertised

Local attractions

A trip to Anglesey is usually all about the outdoor activities, and you’ll be well placed for those with a stay here. A drive of a little over five minutes will get you to a fishing spot at Llyn Alaw or a challenging but scenic round at Bull Bay Golf Club. Boats also head out from Amlwch harbour (five minutes’ drive) for sea fishing or just a bit of coastal sightseeing. There’s plenty of sightseeing to do on land too, whether you head out on the Anglesey Coast Path or aim for Parys Mountain (10 minutes’ drive) for a fabulous stroll through the colourful landscapes left behind by an ancient copper mine. The Copper Kingdom Centre (five minutes) will give you further insight into this aspect of the island’s past. And what about when you’d just like to sit on the beach, thanks very much? There’s a small stretch of sand at Amlwch, but you’d be better off heading to Lligwy (15 minutes), Church Bay (20 minutes) or Benllech (20 minutes) if you’re planning to spend a whole day swimming and sandcastle building.
