  • Back-to-basics camping with Snowdonia views on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Rhosneigr, Aberffraw and Trearddur Bay beaches within 20 mins' drive
  • Flat pitches with room for kids to play; close to shops and pubs
Set in 16 acres of arable farmland on the north-west side of Anglesey, Pumllog Farm Campsite is a peaceful spot that may feel remote – but is actually only a 15-minute drive over the Britannia Bridge and down the A55 from mainland Wales. Turn up, pick your pitch (please keep a distance from other guests) on the flat, spacious camping field and then sit back to enjoy the spectacular views across to peaks in the Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes). This is an ideal base if you’re planning a bucket-and-spade break with the kids – the sandy expanses of Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr beach (also a good one if you’d like to test your windsurfing skills) are within a 20-minute drive. Aberffraw (15 minutes) and Newborough Forest (30 minutes) beaches both have undulating sand dunes for kids to run around on – and keep your eyes peeled at Newborough for elusive red squirrels. If you’d rather just flop into your camping chair and chill, well, that’s fine as Pumllog is full of wildlife. Birds of prey visit the fields along with pheasants, partridges and lots of rabbits. Bring a torch and you may even spot Mr Fox on his nocturnal ramblings. This is almost-wild camping, remember, so facilities are basic, but you'll have access to a portacabin with hot showers and toilets, all powered by gas and solar. Barbecues and off-ground firepits are permitted; you can pick up supplies at the local shop or stop for a beer and meal in the local pub. Llangefni (15 minutes' drive) is a handy nearby town for more extensive stocking up and eating out.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful little campsite, super friendly hosts. Showers and toilets were clean at all times. The field was very soft due to all the rain but the owners were very helpful. Bonus you can have a campfire too!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay here at Pumllog. We are quite lucky that our fields drain well but the amount of rain we've been having pushed it to its limits. Hope you will visit us again soon 😊

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Welcomed by owner, good shower and toilet block, clean and with soap, paper, airfresh etc. Recycling bins and fire buckets supplied. A good stay on a beautiful island.

Disliked: Only possible improvement we thought was maybe a bit of lighting, as a field in a dark isolated position.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great location, central to the Island. Quiet, basic facilities, clean toilets and shower. Lovely friendly owner.

Disliked: Only two showers and two toilets could be an issue if site was busy. You could hear some noise from A55
