Birds eye view

  • Back-to-basics site with Eryri/Snowdonia views on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Rhosneigr, Aberffraw and Trearddur Bay beaches about 20 minutes’ drive
  • Spacious pitches with room for kids to play; close to shops and pubs
Set in 16 acres of arable farmland on the north-west side of Anglesey, Pumllog Farm Campsite is a peaceful spot that may feel remote, but is actually only 15 minutes by car over the Britannia Bridge and down the A55 from mainland Wales. Turn up, pick your pitch (please keep a distance from other guests) on the flat, spacious camping field and then sit back to enjoy the spectacular views across to peaks in Eryri National Park (40 minutes’ drive). This is a great base if you’re planning a bucket-and-spade break with the kids – the sandy expanses of Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr beach (also a good one if you’d like to test your windsurfing skills) are within a 20-minute drive. If you’d prefer to flop into your camping chair and chill, well, that’s fine too, as Pumllog is full of wildlife to scout for. Birds of prey visit the fields along with pheasants, partridges and rabbits. Bring a torch and you may even spot Mr Fox on his nocturnal ramblings. This is almost wild camping, but there are hot showers and flushing toilets on site. You're welcome to bring along your barbecues and raised firepits – pick up supplies at the local shop in Gwalchmai (20 minutes' walk away), and while you're at it, you could grab a cold drink at the village pub. Llangefni, 15 minutes' drive away, has supermarkets. A well-equipped camping shop is also on site with camping/touring essentials. When you'd rather forget about cooking altogether, pubs and restaurants are scattered around the island.

What customers say

A well-maintained, peaceful campsite offering a friendly welcome and excellent value. Facilities, including showers and toilets, are consistently praised for their cleanliness. The location is ideal for exploring Anglesey, with many guests highlighting the helpfulness of the owner, Norma. Some minor road noise has been noted, and during busy periods, there can be queues for facilities.

Liked Great campsite, perfect location, friendly owner - Norma was lovely and welcoming. Facilities were kept clean.
Quiet during our stay, we practically had the field to ourselves.
Lots of rabbits and wildlife

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great campsite. Larger than I anticipated. We positioned close to the toilets. All facilities are cleaned frequently throughout the day. Including showers etc. there are 2 showers, 2 main toilets and a portaloo. Had a long chat with the owner who is lovely. She explained that there are a number of fields we could walk around. Me and my friend sat on one for an hour talking and looking at the view. Campsite was quiet but even during busy spells there will be enough space. Overall a very pleasant camping experience. Price is very competitive compared to other anglesey campsite.

Disliked Nothing

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Good central location on the island, and although very close to the A55 it’s not too noisy. Clean toilets and showers. A friendly welcome from Norma!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great little campsite. Norma the owner was welcoming and took payment when we arrived making it an easy process. Great location for travelling around the island in the day, everywhere is close. Facilities were clean and well looked after. The campsite in general was just peaceful, great for birds and wildlife. I didn’t catch the cat and dogs names but they was adorable too. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

Disliked Little noisy at night time because of the road but really wasn’t that bad.

Local attractions

Rhosneigr and Aberffraw beaches (both 15 minutes’ drive) are the closest sandy stretches if you’ve got offspring impatient to be in the sea. The vast expanse of sand at Trearddur Bay (20 minutes) is good for kayaking and dinghy sailing, while Newborough Forest (30 minutes) beach has undulating sand dunes for kids to run around on – and keep your eyes peeled for elusive red squirrels. When it’s healthy exercise in the bracing fresh air you’re after, there are bike paths and beach walks around Newborough Forest too, while the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path is 15 minutes’ drive away for long-distance yompers. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes, Eryri National Park (40 minutes) is also a haven for hikers, climbers and cyclists. Days out with the kids could include a stop to see the fluttering butterflies and chameleons at Pili Palas Nature World (20 minutes), or the chance to snuggle up with cheeky goats, piglets and Shire horses at Foel Farm Park (half an hour). Day trips to Northern Ireland are possible too, as it’s only 15 minutes in the car to Holyhead Ferry.
