Pitch by the fishing lake

The fishing lake with Eryri in the distance
Level grass pitch
Kids

  • Small, friendly and quiet Anglesey touring site with Eryri views
  • Newborough Forest 15 minutes’ drive and Rhosneigr 20 minutes
  • Fishing lake on the grass field; pubs and cafés five minutes’ drive
At just a 15-minute hop in the car from the Menai Bridge, Birdworld Leisure is a small, family-friendly and oh-so-peaceful touring site with far-reaching views to the peaks of Eryri National Park peaks over on the mainland. The spacious grass pitches are level, and there’s access to water but no electricity. Modern facilities stand on the edge of the field, including toilets (one with disabled access) and a shower with plenty of hot water. Anglers can make a beeline for the on-site fishing lake or try their luck on the River/Afon Briant, which runs through the neighbouring field. Birdworld Leisure is dog-friendly too, and you can walk any four-legged friends directly from the pitches, through the forest at nearby Newborough or on Llanddwyn Beach. For those of you who are self-catering, the nearest supermarket is in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (15 minutes’ drive). When you fancy a night off the cooking rota, you have a choice of pubs and cafés within five minutes by car, as well as seafront restaurants in lively Rhosneigr (20 minutes).

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great service, very friendly and relaxed. Allowed us to leave our tents until after parkrun and breakfast and come and pack up after. Nice touches like toiletries in the toilets in case you'd forgotten anything.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked The scenery is beautiful, the staff although briefly met were lovely and it didn’t feel like we were being watched which was nice! The grounds were well maintained. The water taps around the whole field was a great touch and the toilet facilities were clean with an added bonus of free products if you had forgotten any, that was nice!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The site was excellent for peace and quiet. The staff were fantastic came to see if we needed help to put up trailer tent not far to nip and get some shopping supermarkets only 15 minutes away, local garage close for a bit some pieces five minutes to local chippy who were excellent, grocery store just across the road from the chippy scenery was fantastic, looking out over the Welsh mountains woodland, and the beaches we went to were beautiful
Toilets, very clean, like the fact they left toothpaste, toothbrushes and toiletries in case you forgot something shower was usable very hot staff could not do enough to help anything you needed. They would help you with some directions to putting up tents or trailer tents with you.

Disliked As far as we were concerned I was very relaxing, and the dog enjoys it as much as we did

Liked Amazing location and views. Quiet campsite with no facilities apart from ports cabin toilets and showers. However they were lovely and clean and showers hot. If you forget any toiletries you will probably find them in the facilities. Great thought.

Local attractions

Children part of your holiday package? Foel Farm Park (10 minutes’ drive) offers plenty of fun on tractor rides and jumping pillows as well as meet-and-greets with sheep, goats and donkeys. Older kids will appreciate the rollercoasters and waterslides at GreenWood Family Park (25 minutes) back on the mainland, and there are beaches galore for bucket-and-spade days, including Llanddwyn (15 minutes) and Rhosneigr (20 minutes). Culture vultures wanting to bag a few historic sites can start with the ancient river crossing at Rhuddgaer Stepping Stones (five minutes), see the Neolithic Bodowyr Burial Chamber (10 minutes) standing in a field grazed by sheep, and check out the Bryn Gwyn Standing Stones (five minutes), which were once part of a large stone circle. You stand a fair chance of seeing red squirrels in Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest (15 minutes), where you can also walk to the landmark lighthouse for spectacular vistas of Eyri peaks. Views over the Menai Strait are part of the attraction at National Trust-run Plas Newydd House and Gardens (15 minutes), where you can also stroll woodland paths looking for those elusive squirrels.
