  • Quiet family-friendly Anglesey site five minutes' drive from Moelfre
  • Benllech beach five minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Parys Mountain
  • Dogs welcome on site; 20 minutes' walk to dog-friendly Lligwy beach
The north coast of Anglesey is a wonderful location for a seaside holiday – and even better when it’s at Melin Rhos Caravan Park, a peaceful holiday park that’s only a 20-minute walk from the splendidly sandy Lligwy beach. Being so close to the beach means you’ll be able to wander up there whenever you feel like it for a stroll through the dunes, a bit of watersports action (windsurfing and kitesurfing are often good here) or an afternoon playing on the sand with the kids. Lligwy is a dog-friendly beach as well, so you can bring your four-legged pals along for a good run around and a paddle if you like. Also conveniently close by is the village of Moelfre, with another beach, a shop, a pub and a couple of cafés – it’s about five minutes’ drive from the site. Beyond that, places like Benllech beach and Parys Mountain are handily nearby for outings (both within 15 minutes’ drive) and there are heaps of great walks around, either on the Anglesey Coast Path or along inland trails. As this park is set a little way back from the shoreline, it’s nicely sheltered from any coastal winds – particularly good news for guests hoping to light a barbecue or set up awnings on their pitch. Facilities on site have all the basics covered – you’ll have access to toilets, token-operated hot showers and a washing-up area, along with a paid wifi service.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The site was quiet, only 3 others on the touring pitches, they are decent size pitches, was close the the toilet/shower block which was both good and bad. I think if it were full would feel a little claustrophobic. The showers are powerful and although £1 you get 8 minutes for that. Also close to a lovely beach which is an easy walk away.

Check in isn’t on site but a couple of miles away(I hadn’t read the email or noticed this on booking so my fault) I turned up on site and luckily someone was there and they told me where I needed to go. Again my fault for not reading.

I saw a Red Squirrel, which was nice.

Disliked The bad bit about the pitch we were on (1b) is the smell of the cesspit which wafted across every so often and it is opposite the bins,(I’m sure I could of moved but had already put the awning up) it is also very close to the entrance exit road so lots of people coming and going from the static pitches to the bins and in/out of park.
WiFi £8 per device.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Quiet site close to the beach. Lovely natural setting.

Short drive to local village for food and shops. Amazing beach nearby which is why we chose the site

Disliked Reception and check in is on another site 2 miles away. Seemed an odd setup in that respect but not a deal breaker.
Also could have done with more facilities for kids

Electric grass pitch

Liked The location is definitely a plus of this campsite and that's it

Disliked changing the price via email privately explaining that on pitchup.com it was wrong and it was £100 more, the reception was 2 miles away from the field, the lack of a person who would be helpful on site, the inability to buy shower tokens after closing the reception (9-17) the cleanliness of the toilets left much to be desired

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us over the bank holiday weekend.

To clarify, the original booking made through Pitchup was for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children, which matched the price shown. When we received the booking details showing 3 adults and 4 children in a single tent, we contacted you straight away to advise of the £100 charge for the additional guests — a standard policy to help us manage resources and ensure everyone’s comfort. This charge was accepted at the time.

While our main reception is located 4 miles from the park — as clearly stated in our listing along with its opening times — we do have wardens on the park who make every effort to assist customers throughout their stay.

We’re always working to ensure our guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience, and we thank you again for your visit.

Good site. Would stay again.

Local attractions

For many visitors, a trip to Anglesey is all about the coast – and you’ll be nicely placed to explore plenty of that when you stay at Melin Rhos Caravan Park. Beyond your nearest beaches (Lligwy and Moelfre) it’s also easy to get to family favourite Benllech beach (five minutes’ drive) and historic Porth Wen (15 minutes) with its remnants of industrial buildings, or to cross the island to places like Rhosneigr and Newborough (both 35 minutes). Sticking to the coastline, you could also visit the unfinished Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes), known as ‘the greatest castle never built’, or book a boat trip with RibRide (25 minutes) to see the birds on Puffin Island. Other days out? How about a walk through the amazing colourful landscapes of Parys Mountain Copper Mine (10 minutes), meeting the butterflies and other mini beasts at Pili Palas Nature World (20 minutes) or heading over the Menai Bridge to try the adventure activities at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (35 minutes)?
