  • Self-catering family-run site right on the Isle of Anglesey coast
  • Haven for walkers: Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path crosses the site
  • A 30-minute drive from Bangor and 45 from Holyhead
It’s back to basics at Arfor Camping, a tents-only site in the coastal village of Moelfre on the Isle of Anglesey, where it's all about nature, the ocean and your own two feet. Arfor is well-placed for rambling: the 130-mile-long Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path passes directly by the site, running around the island’s entire coastline and passing some of Anglesey’s most spectacular spots. Keep a watchful eye out for peregrine falcons, choughs, terns and seals on your travels; on a calm summer’s day, you may even spy porpoises swimming by in the cove… Rest your weary legs back on the two-acre green-field site, where you can kick up your feet and relax with views over the sea to Puffin Island and the Great Orme at Llandudno. There's little to interfere with the peace, but the site has essential amenities including running water and portable toilets in the accommodation field. When it comes time to carb-load for the next day – or if, you know, you’re just hungry – Moelfre village centre is a few minutes' stroll away. Pull up a pew in the pub or café for food or pick up a takeaway from the chip shop, then treat yourself to an ice cream from the local parlour. You deserve it… Please note that Arfor Camping is not able to accept campervans or motorhomes.

What customers say

This campsite offers exceptional sea views and an excellent location, just a short walk from Moelfre village amenities and beaches. Reviewers consistently praise the cleanliness of the portable toilets and the site's simplicity, making it ideal for short stays. While facilities are basic with no showers, most guests found them manageable. Some recent feedback notes increased noise levels and difficulty contacting staff. The site is well-suited for those seeking back-to-basics camping in a stunning spot.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Site does what it says on the tin, it's a busy site right by the sea. The village has a great pub with an amazing Pizza trailer out back. As others have said it is on a hill but the pitches are good size so we manage to position the tent and car to overcome that. Having showers would be nice, however compared to other local sites it's an amazing price.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Perfect location for couple nights away - toilets cleaned regularly - beautiful scenery and coastal walk to nearest beach was about 3k & not too much.

Disliked No bearing on the site but there are no corner / local shops if you forget anything, it’s a drive to Benllech and the nearest spar / Tesco.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great location, albeit exposed and windy.

Disliked Facilites are very basic, just 4 festival toilets. No running water other than a low outdoor tap. Pitches are tight if you have a larger tent

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay.

We’re pleased you liked the location of the camping field. It’s correct being frontline sea view with undisturbed views does mean it does get a bit windy, but this is normal occurrence and can’t be helped.

It is correct that we do have four very clean looked after portaloos, this is mentioned very clearly in our listing, i’m sorry you my have appeared to miss this.

Being a pop up campsite (mentioned on pitchup), it is not feasible to construct a toilet block to be used for 28 days. We have frequent revisiting campers who are quite adamant they don’t want it to change and love it as it is.

It is incorrect we do not have running water, we have 4 water points all working with running water. If you had trouble finding them, we’d have been happy to point these out to you.

All pitches are measured and maximum sizes mentioned at time of booking (8x3m tents), for larger tents we ask that you contact us, as larger tents do require 2 pitches.

I hope this has answered your points and provided clarification as to misunderstandings experienced (albeit mentioned in our listing).

I hope for future bookings more time is taken to read the information about a campsite prior to arriving, this will give you a better experience when the correct expectation is set.

We hope you had a nice journey home!

Local attractions

If you don’t feel like spending your break trekking through dunes, marshes and farms, there’s plenty on the Isle of Anglesey to see without having to follow the coastal path. You can start close to home by calling over to Moelfre Lifeboat Station – Arfor Camping’s next-door neighbour – for a tour, or watch for the regular launches while you're lazing around on site. Take a look inside South Stack Lighthouse at Holyhead, explore the stunning Ynys y Fydlyn beach, wander the Hidden Gardens at Plas Cadnant, visit Plas Newydd House and Gardens and embrace your inner twitcher at Cemlyn Nature Reserve… all are within 45 minutes' drive. Your stay on the Isle of Anglesey doesn’t have to feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean – you can make your way to the mainland across Menai bridge or the spectacular Britannia bridge, and Arfor Camping is only 30 minutes from Bangor, where you can dive in and out of shops, restaurants and museums all the day long. Once you’re on the mainland, get your fill of grand buildings with visits to Penrhyn Castle and Caernarfon Castle, both around 30 minutes from Arfor.
