  • Peaceful camping site located in the central Anglesey countryside
  • A quarter of an hour from Holyhead; Beaumaris 30 minutes
  • Back to basics farm site with views across Rhosneigr and Snowdonia
Beaches, mountains and castles – and all in one place? It's got to be Anglesey, where ancient history, gorgeous landscapes and a proud Welsh-speaking culture make a truly special destination. And where better to soak it all up than Cefn Trefor? This peaceful camping spot is right in the middle of the island, making it a breeze to explore all its four corners – plus several spectacular swathes of the mainland. This quiet site has a back to basics feel, although handy facilities like a toilet and shower block are on hand to keep you comfortable during your stay. The pitches here are all set in spacious farm fields, surrounded by wildlife, greenery and far-reaching views out towards the coast at Rhosneigr and the peaks of the Snowdonia mountains. When you're being treated to panoramas like these, there's a lot to be said for just sitting back and watching the clouds roll over the horizon… While it's out of the way of the island's busier spots, Cefn Trefor is well-connected to all of Anglesey's main attractions by road. Within a quarter of an hour you can visit the port town of Holyhead for shops, pubs and restaurants, while half an hour by car is all it takes to get to the opposite corner of the isle and the medieval fortress town of Beaumaris.

Local attractions

Cefn Trefor is located in the Capel Ebenezer area, close to lots of cute local attractions like the historic Melin Llynon windmill (10 minutes' drive), foliage-filled walks around The Dingle nature reserve (10 minutes) and Llyn Cefni reservoir (10 minutes), where circular strolls and bird hide nature-spotting adventures await… Turning to the coast, you've got the popular seaside village of Rhosneigr (15 minutes) just down the road, while the bustling port of Holyhead (15 minutes) also has its fair share of tourist appeal with a maritime museum and ancient Roman ruins. Settle down elsewhere on Holy Island at Penrhos Coastal Park (15 minutes) for a picnic by the water, or for riveting rib rides up to the Menai Bridge and back, take yourself over to Beaumaris (30 minutes). Making it over to the mainland is also on the cards if you're up for exploring further afield. Bucket and spade days at Bangor (25 minutes), castle-based capers in Caernarfon (25 minutes) and perhaps even trips to the golden sands of the Llŷn Peninsula (an hour) are all possible – and that's all before taking on the peaks and forests of Snowdonia National Park (from half an hour).
