Check. Out. Those. Views. The scenery surrounding Snowdonia Hideaway – visible from all around the site – has been described, quite rightly, as ‘epic’. So why not see it for yourself by booking this bolthole for a north Wales trip? Take in a sunrise over the mountains and sunsets across Cambrian Bay from this Bryncrug park, which is also close to wild swimming spots and award-winning restaurants (the owners encourage guests to have a chat with them for all the local intel). Ask about the woodfired hot tub or reflexology and tarot reading sessions available on site too. As for adrenaline-seeking activities, there are ample options for boosting your heart rate in the Gwynedd area, from rock climbing to mountain biking. Penygader, one of the highest mountains in Wales, is only 20 minutes' drive away. The Dyfi Bike Park is also half an hour's drive away for mountain biking. Low-key trip more your bag? Forget all that and set off for one of the nearby beaches (there are several nearby, including Tywyn and Aberdyfi), then simply settle in for a rest in the fresh air and look forward to the starry night skies you’re likely to see in this place of low light pollution. If you’re not up for a self-catering dinner, wander to the local pub (20 minutes’ walk) or drive to one of the inns and restaurants serving seasonal local food (within five minutes by car).

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback. We are a family run smallholding with fantastic views and one shower room with toilet, just as the description online. Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Dolgellau offer lots of things to do in the area and there's great walking and outdoor activities.

Local attractions

Snowdonia National Park is a fab place for outdoor activities – try rock climbing, canoeing and sea kayaking nearby or take a walk or bike ride on the Mawddach Trail, following the old railway line alongside the Mawddach estuary. Fancy chugging along by steam train instead? Make tracks to the Talyllyn Railway stop (10 minutes' drive) for rides to the Dolgoch waterfalls, the coast or a kids’ play park. Castell y Bere (15 minutes) and the ancient town of Machynlleth (25 minutes) are on hand for history-filled days, with the Centre for Alternative Technology (25 minutes) a top draw for more modern interests. To up the pace, head off horse riding at Bwlchgwyn (20 minutes) then flit further away to the famed mountain-biking tracks of Coed-y-Brenin (50 minutes). There are also sub-surface explores to be had in the caves of Blaenau Ffestiniog (an hour), zipwiring in Bethesda (an hour), and surfing on an artificial inland wave in Dolgarrog (an hour and 35 minutes).
