  • Wild camping field with sea and hill views in Snowdonia National Park
  • A 20-minute walk to Barmouth beach; Harlech Castle a 15-minute drive
  • Peaceful off-grid site off the A496, close to the beach and mountains
Can’t decide between a mountain holiday or a beach vacation? You’ll be able to mix up a bit of both at Cerrighedd, a peaceful camping field in Gwynedd, sandwiched between the North Wales coastline and the hills of Snowdonia National Park. With easy access off the main A496 road, and handy for bus and train services too, this off-grid site is set on seven acres of land at a small stud farm. Facilities are minimal, but what it does offer includes total relaxation, glorious views of the Bay of Ceredigion to Bardsey Island and (hopefully) gorgeous sunsets to enjoy while you put your feet up by your tent. From here it's under an hour’s drive to major Snowdonia attractions including hiking around Betws-y-Coed (55 minutes’ drive) and the narrow-gauge Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways (30 minutes) – so it’s your choice whether you pass your holidays lazing on Barmouth Bay’s sandy beach (20 minutes’ walk) or scaling Mount Snowdon (55 minutes’ drive). Seaside Barmouth (10 minutes) has excellent butchers and grocers, as well as harbour-view pubs and seafood restaurants, and there's another great butcher and grocer a few minutes' walk away in Dyffryn Ardudwy. Just north is Harlech (15 minutes), also with plenty of eating options, home to Royal St David’s Golf Club and overlooked by its imposing, medieval castle perched on a rocky promontory.
