  • Woodland micro glampsite five minutes’ drive from the coast
  • Within 5 miles of Wales Coast Path and Offa's Dyke Path
  • Luxury pods with ensuite facilities, kitchen, heating and woodburner
If only there was a place where you could curl up, cocooned in home comforts, yet surrounded by trees and lulled by the sounds of a hillside stream… Well, at Emlyn’s Coppice that’s exactly what’s been created in a small slice of ancient woodland five minutes’ drive from the North Wales coast in rural Flintshire. Arriving at your self-contained glamping pod, you’ll find everything at hand for a relaxing break away from reality. Each pod has an ensuite shower and toilet, kitchen facilities, underfloor heating and a woodburning stove. From the site entrance there’s a glimpse of the coast and two miles away the golden expanse of Talacre Dunes and beach are yours to explore. 10 minutes’ drive away is the seaside town of Prestatyn where you can stock up on all the essentials, treat yourself to fish and chips and blow away the cobwebs on the wide sandy beaches. For those keen to hit the shops in earnest, the historic city of Chester is 40 minutes’ drive away. This is well-known walking country and you can hit the Wales Coast Path a few minutes’ walk from site or connect up with the Offa’s Dyke Path within five miles. Cyclists can start on the Sustrans North Wales Coastal Route right from the driveway, and while away many days exploring the country roads and coastal routes all around. The glorious open-air playground that is Snowdonia National Park – home to Wales’ highest peak – is about an hour’s drive away. Then, when you’re ready to come back to base, light up the firepit (with the first bag of wood on the house) and raise a toast to another day well spent.

Local attractions

The daytrip possibilities accessible from this stretch of the North Wales coast tick all the boxes. Explore the 13th-century castle at Rhuddlan (15 minutes’ drive) and the grand Georgian recreation of a medieval castle at Gwrych (35 minutes) which British TV fans might recognise as the UK home of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. Commune with the animals at SeaQuarium in Rhyl (20 minutes) and the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay (35 minutes). Or sit back and take in the spectacular views from the Llandudno Great Orme Tramway (45 minutes) as it climbs 1500m through the Great Orme Country Park and Nature Reserve. If you want to take the adventure up a notch, it’s worth the drive – about an hour – to Zip World Fforest at the edge of Snowdonia or Zip World Penrhyn Quarry. And don’t miss the chance to catch a wave at Surf Snowdonia (50 minutes’ drive), the world’s first inland surf lagoon.

Ayr camping pod (hot tub, two person)

Liked: Everything about it, location was perfect, quiet, but not far from local amenities, clean pod with all the kitchen items and toilet item needs, tray you would need, really nice owner who kept in touch to see if there was anything need, which is really nice, very good pricing, all round really good 2 nights away, in an idyllic location, brill

From the manager: Thankyou so much for such a great review. So glad you had a great time with us. I do note you marked down the WiFi. I wish you'd said something at the time, as after your stay we did have someone mention it, and a simple reset cleared the line. Back up to its usual 50-80mbps depending where in the site you are. So our apologies for that. Woodlands and WiFi don't always mix lol.

Orme camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: The location was perfect, peaceful and tranquil, a couple of miles from Prestatyn where there is a good range of shops and beach. Cooking facilities great and loved the fire pit/ bbq. Liked how we just had to bring food and clothes everything else catered for. En-suite great with lots of hot water. Stayed in the Orme pod. Secluded and private garden area, plenty of sunlight to say it was in a woody area. Will definitely be returning

Disliked: Nothing

Orme camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: We stayed in the pod called the Orme it didn’t have the hot tub but this didn’t bother us due to health reasons. it was lovely and clean had everything we needed the bed was comfy and shower was hot. It was relaxing listening to the owls round the camp fire was a nice touch. We enjoyed it so much we booked an extra night which was no trouble. Prestatyn is 10 minutes drive. We had Sunday lunch at the crown in which is a 5 minute drive. We will definitely be booking a second visit.

Disliked: Nothing but maybe camping chairs to sit round the fire was be nice and a hook to hang up coats.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for such a wonderful review. It is much appreciated. Totally take on board your point about hooks in Orme. I have missed that!! Both Ayr and Offa have and that is an oversight for Orme which I will get onto asap! As for Camp chairs, well it's something we've considered, but storage is an issue. We do obviously have the outdoor picnic table and the cushions on the sofa are bean bags designed to be used indoors or indeed outdoors around the fire. We obviously booked the owls specially for you... In fact they've been rehearsing for weeks 😄. We are very lucky here, most guests do get treated to plenty of Tawny Owl calls, alongside all the other wildlife. But if you're very very lucky we do have a rogue Barn Owl who shows him/herself on rare occasions. We look forward to seeing you again.

Orme camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Location, surroundings. We walked to Prestatyn via the coastal route, it was ace. Looking forward to walking the route again

Disliked: Walked to the pub which said it was open Friday and Saturday night from 7pm but it was closed. Saved a headache for the morning though 😂

From the manager: Thankyou for such a great review. So glad you had a great time. Apologies for the most local pub. It can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. We're hoping the pub in Llanasa will open again this year. Hope to see you again.
