  • Luxurious North Wales glamping units in woodland around two lakes
  • On the edge of the Clwydian Range, 20 minutes' drive from the coast
  • Private hot tub, barbecue, ensuite bathroom and kitchen for each unit
With two lakes on site and surrounded by a landscape of woodland and streams, Herons Lake Retreat makes a most peaceful place for a North Wales outdoor break. The views all around are of gorgeous countryside, but this rural retreat shouldn’t be tricky to get to as it’s only a half a mile away from the A541 (and about half a mile from the nearest village, Caerwys). Come along to this family-run Flintshire holiday park and you’ll be staying in luxurious accommodation that’s been designed to blend well with its woodland surroundings. And you’ll be able to make the most of those surroundings too, as each unit has its own outdoor space with a barbecue and a hot tub where you can while away many hours soaking up the serene atmosphere. Inside, the smart wooden structures are equally well appointed – each one is completely self contained, with its own ensuite bathroom and kitchen area, plus a TV and heating for those cosy evenings in. Towels and bed linen are provided to make life nice and easy, so you’ll just need to bring along whatever you’d like to eat and drink (although there is a small shop with a few basics for sale – including all-important good coffee…) How you spend your time around here is completely up to you. You may simply like to sink into rural life, doing a little fishing on the lake, heading to the beach at Prestatyn (20 minutes’ drive away) or strolling to the village pub – or you can pack your time with hikes in the Clwydian Range, go-karting, climbing and all sorts of adventures at the ZipWorld parks.
