Wonderful views and right next to the river dee
All-weather pitches
Site accessible from the canal

  • Peaceful site near Llangollen Canal and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
  • A 20-minute walk to Llangollen, 30 minutes to Castell Dinas Brân
  • Rural site with showers and electric hook up in six acres of woodland
Plonk yourself down and prepare to unwind on this pretty patch of land at the foot of the ruined Castell Dinas Brân, right next to the River Dee, in Denbighshire’s Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Llandyn Holiday Park is a small rural site with direct access to Llangollen Canal and close to the gorgeous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct too. This six-acre wooded spot has plenty of quiet corners, yet is only a five-minute drive from the town of Llangollen, famous for its International Music Eisteddfod in July and packed with indie shops, pubs and tea shops. The town is also a base for hill walking and river-based activities like whitewater rafting, tubing and paddleboarding. The canal towpath is part of the National Cycle Network’s Route 85, and one way to cruise down the canal is by horse-drawn barge. Within a half-hour drive, there are stately mansions or medieval castles waiting to be explored too. As well as spectacular views back at base, all pitches have access to chemical loos and shower facilities, electric and water hook up. Here, you’re free to bring along a barbecue for outdoor dining in warm weather or alternatively pick up a range of takeaways from Llangollen.

Liked There is so much space!
The pitches are generous with large grass spaces between them. At no point did I feel overlooked.
The shower/ toilet facilities are very clean along with the pot wash facilities.
The wardens are very personable and helpful.
The site is spotlessly clean and very quiet.
It was lovely to be able to walk into Llangollen in one direction and cycle along the tow path to the aqueduct in the opposite direction.
The scenery is, as you would expect in Wales, stunning!

Disliked If I was being super picky I might suggest, as it is quite a large site, a few more toilets/ showers would be great.

Liked Beautiful small site with wardens. The facilities were clean and tidy with a code to enter. There is a path from the site straight into Llangollen or to the canal. Llangollen is beautiful. Lots of places to eat, walks and shops.

Local attractions

With direct access to the Llangollen Canal and Castell Dinas Brân 30 minutes’ walk away, a peaceful stroll from Llandyn Holiday Park will get you far. More cool locations can be tracked down a short drive away – Plas Newydd Historic House & Gardens and Llangollen Railway Station (both five minutes' drive) are two such places, the second being home to a heritage railway that’s as close to a 14th-century rail station as you’ll get nowadays. If it’s the historic stuff that you like, then Chirk Castle (20 minutes) is just as impressive as it is primed for adventure – with 480 acres of parkland surrounding the fortress, you’ll be set for a good wander there. Erdigg Hall (25 minutes) has more gorgeous parkland walks and a huge collection of historic items. Another great adventure is in sight – taking a canal boat (or a stroll) across the top of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (10 minutes). If you’re looking for activities a little closer to the ground instead, visit the local town of Wrexham (20 minutes), play a round at the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club (10 minutes) or head to the city for Chester Zoo (40 minutes).
