  • Glamping on private farmland with spectacular Snowdonia views
  • A 15-minute drive to Betws-y-Coed, and 10 minutes to Zip World Fforest
  • Equipped kitchenettes and hot tubs on site; pubs 15 minutes’ drive
Fancy a Welsh getaway with views to Snowdonia? Peaceful farm fields and thoughtful little touches of luxury? Sounds a lot like Siabod Huts, wooden glamping retreats cutely decked out with all mod cons, and kept warm and cosy on cooler nights thanks to internal woodburners. All accommodation comes with double beds and futons, so they can fit in various combinations of friends and family up to four people, with room for any overflow in a compact pod. Hot showers, a kitchenette with stove and crockery, a cool box and a starter pack of foodie basics come as part of the deal. Please note though – these huts are off grid and powered by solar energy. Up the luxury factor with a dip in the hot tub as the sun goes down, or kick back on your deck with a glass of wine and spark up a barbecue on the firepit. If you’re not that much into cooking (you are on holiday after all), breakfast can be delivered right to your door – just order when you arrive on site. And if you feel like a change of scenery, there are pubs and restaurants in Betws-y-Coed (15 minutes’ drive). Depending on the weather, this little hideaway is open all year around, and the views are just as spectacular when the hills are covered in snow as they are in mid summer.

Local attractions

There’s masses to do around the site, whether you’re travelling à deux or with the kids. If you’re after burning off some family energy, Zip World Fforest (10 minutes’ drive) has adrenaline-busting zipwire rides and coasters, while Zip World Llechwedd (half an hour) has a double zipwire and quarry tours. Looking for a less active day out? Head straight for Welsh Mountain Zoo (half an hour) to say hallo to cuddly bunnies at the petting farm. Getting out and about in the bracing Welsh air is easy too, with walks in Gwydir Forest Park (20 minutes) leading to Geirionydd or Crafnant lakes. Try your hand at white-water rafting on Tegid Lake (40 minutes) near Bala, see the Snowdonia hills up close by pony trekking from Ty Coch, Penmachno (25 minutes), or practise casting for trout at Brenig Lake (half an hour). On any rainy days, jump aboard the Snowdon Mountain Railway (40 minutes) to chug your way up Snowdon, or treat yourself to handwoven, patterned bedspreads at Trefriw Woollen Mills (15 minutes).
