  • Comfy adults-only caravan between Betws-y-Coed and Conwy
  • A 15-minute drive to Adventure Parc Snowdonia; 20 minutes to beaches
  • Walk to Cadair Ifan Goch from the site; picnic bench for stargazing
Keen to find a little corner in the North Wales countryside that’s just for you? While such a thing might sound like a big ask in the ever-popular Conwy, that’s what the folk who set up Peaceful Paddock have created. To get to the specifics, your hideout is a single comfy touring caravan that has been parked up in a quiet, peaceful and self-contained setting that also happens to be handy for the A470, 200 metres away down a single-track drive. That means it’s a 15-minute drive to get to Betws-y-Coed and Conwy, 25 minutes for Llandudno and 40 minutes for Snowdon. Here for the beaches? Llandudno has a huge promenade and Penrhyn Bay and Colwyn Bay are both 20 minutes’ drive away. The mountains? There’s a public footpath right outside the site that goes up Cadair Ifan Goch. For outdoorsy pursuits, the site is 15 minutes’ drive away from Adventure Parc Snowdonia and Go Below Underground Adventures or half an hour from Zip World Llechwedd. However you spend your day, back at base is a rural setting and a cosy caravan stay that includes bedding, towels, an ensuite bathroom and a kitchen. Basics covered include things like electricity, gas, hot and cold running water, a shower, sink and toilet, as well as wifi, satellite, Smart TV, 4G mobile coverage, parking, heating, crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. When you’re not tucking in around the indoor dining table, the picnic table outside is just the thing for meals with fresh air and views of the countryside or stargazing on clear nights. In Llanrwst, 10 minutes’ drive away, there are pubs and restaurants for meals out or takeaways.

Please note
  • Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.
  • No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
  • There is a quarter-mile private lane between the caravan and the A470. This single farm track has a grass verge running through the centre, meaning that travellers with low-slung vehicles or sports cars should take extra care. The outdoor lighting is incomplete, so guests must take extra care when arriving or leaving when dark. Guests might see other guests along the path, as there are other properties within the location, spaced 25 to 100 yards apart.

Liked: Absolutely lovely location, very peaceful, no one else near by at all. Brilliant caravan, everything you could want and more inside, even a sewing kit! Very comfortable bed and settee area. Decent size shower. Couldn't ask for more. Owners were fantastic.

Local attractions

Those of you who have an outdoorsy streak will be in a prime position for pumping some adrenaline on zipwires, mountain hikes and other outdoor activities. In fact, Adventure Parc Snowdonia (15 minutes’ drive) has a huge surf lagoon with courses and lessons, despite it being surrounded by the mountains. The experience at Go Below Underground Adventures (15 minutes) takes you caving, boating, abseiling and ziplining, all while being underground. There are zipwires (above the treetops, this time) and a rollercoaster at Zip World Fforest (10 minutes) too. Of course, Betws-y-Coed (10 minutes) is surrounded by more landscapes that seemed designed for mountain biking, rock climbing and hiking. Then, there's the big Snowdon (40 minutes) hike in Snowdonia National Park for those of you who want to tick that off. If you’re ready for something more peaceful, a walk around the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden (10 minutes) or Conwy Castle (15 minutes) will certainly do.
