- Spectacularly scenic rural site in Snowdonia National Park
- Adventure caves, treetop adventure park and watersports nearby
- Huge 1,600-metre karting circuit
If you're into karting, zoom over to Glan Y Gors Park sharpish: with one of the UK's largest Motor Sports Association-approved karting circuits, this is quite possibly going to be the park of all your petrol-themed dreams.
And apart from the world-class karting, there are plenty more reasons to stick around here for quite some time: treetop adventuring, extreme caving, paintballing, fishing, whitewater rafting and canyoning opps, plus miles of coastline and a whole heap of wild walking trails and lakes that lie around the local area.
This spectacularly scenic site is set in a peaceful rural location just outside Snowdonia National Park and guarantees excellent facilities for a wild camping retreat deep in Conwy countryside; and what Glan Y Gors guests enthuse the most about after their stay here is the team's excellent and friendly customer service and the utterly handsome views from the park's 1,600-metre track.
Another thing that gets a rave review here is the food: to keep you sufficiently fuelled throughout your stay, the GYG team will serve you breakfast, lunch, homemade cream teas and dinner at the on-site eatery – and if you're venturing out for the day, you can pre-order your packed lunches too. For meals off site, there are plenty of country restaurants and pubs close by that your cordial hosts will be more than happy to point you towards.
Among the amenities are a sparklingly clean accessible sanitary block with toilets, hot showers and a baby changing room. Free wifi is available in the café.

From Glan Y Gors you can quite easily explore the hills above Harlech and the lanes over to Llandudno. The site is also just under six miles from Llyn Brenig and Alwen Reservoirs and a mere eight miles from Clocanog Forest, which means that land- and water-based opps including boating, fishing, wildlife watching, cycling and gentle forest and waterside strolls are well sorted. Bala Lake, around 20 minutes' drive away, adds whitewater rafting and sailing to that already extensive list of activity options.
Another popular local attraction is the photogenic village of Betws-y-Coed, less than 12 miles away; stop at Miners' Bridge for a photo opp, watch the tiny trains chug around really small rails at the Conwy Valley Railway Museum and park up for a picnic at Pont-y-Pair Falls. The forests surrounding the village are crisscrossed by a network of walking and mountain biking trails too, so you can make a good day of it with a visit here.
If you're feeling a little more adventurous, head to the world’s biggest inland wave lagoon at Surf Snowdonia, 20 miles away, or try free falling, plummeting, ziplining and swinging at ZipWorld fForest treetop adventure park in Betws-y-Coed. Right next to this are two pretty special underground adventure attractions: Bounce Below, an underground trampoline park in the old slate caverns, and Go Below, where brave contenders journey through a mountain via a series of challenges ranging from zip-lining through caverns to climbing up vertical shafts, boating across a subterranean lake, traversing an abyss and abseiling down to the deepest point in the UK.
