  • Spectacularly scenic rural site just outside Snowdonia National Park
  • A basecamp for adventures such as hiking, biking and wild swimming
  • Huge 1,600-metre karting circuit; café serving breakfast and lunch
Set in rural north Wales, Adventure Basecamp Wales is a scenic site directly off the A5. Just outside of Snowdonia National Park, outdoor activities of all sorts are within a short drive. The on-site café has a breakfast and lunch menu to suit all tastes, and there are also other convenient facilities on site including 24-hour toilet and shower facilities as well as an outdoor sink for washing up dishes. If you're into karting, zoom here sharpish: the site has one of the UK's largest Motor Sports Association-approved karting circuits. The site can also organise e-bike, mountain bike and hiking adventures; several wild biking trails and a whole heap of walking trails go straight from base (activities vary by season and booking ahead is highly recommended – put your request in the 'special requests' section of the booking form). If that sounds too strenuous, there are several lakes in the local area to laze around at, and the site is in a Dark Sky Reserve for idling after dark. The team highly recommends that you venture out to sample local Welsh products too, including Welsh meat, cheese, wine and local honey. There are plenty of farm shops and country pubs that your cordial hosts will be more than happy to point you towards. In between all that, Adventure Basecamp Wales guests have complemented the team's excellent and friendly customer service and the utterly handsome views from the site.

Local attractions

From Adventure Basecamp Wales you can quite easily explore all the Snowdonia mountains, and, if you’re a keen scrambler, shin up epic Welsh ridges and the famed Tryfan mountain. The popular Ogwen valley, a hiking haven, is within easy reach: ask the site team for details. Take a wild swim in Wales’s wild natural lakes or try out the outdoor watersports on offer, from paddleboarding, canoeing and rafting to the world’s biggest inland wave lagoon at Surf Snowdonia. As well as natural glacier lakes, the region has acres' worth of natural forest with mountain bike trails. More peacefully, the site is surrounded by pretty villages, such as Betws-y-Coed, 25 minutes' drive away: stop at Conwy Falls for a photo opp or try freefalling, plummeting, ziplining and swinging at ZipWorld Fforest treetop adventure park. Right next to this are two underground attractions: Bounce Below, a trampoline park in the old slate caverns, and Go Below, where brave contenders journey through a mountain via a series of challenges ranging from ziplining through caverns to boating across a subterranean lake and abseiling down to the deepest point in the UK.
