- Huge 1,600-metre karting circuit; café serving snacks and coffee
Adventure ahoy: Adventure Basecamp Wales is a scenic wild camping site in a peaceful rural location just outside Snowdonia National Park, with easy access to outdoor activities of all sorts within a short drive. If you're into karting, zoom to here sharpish: with one of the UK's largest Motor Sports Association-approved karting circuits, this is quite possibly going to be the park of all your petrol-themed dreams…
Apart from the world-class karting, there are plenty more reasons to stick around here for quite some time: the site lays on e-bike, mountain bike and hiking adventures, with several wild biking trails and a whole heap of walking trails straight from base (activities vary by season and booking ahead is highly recommended – put your request in the 'special requests' section of the booking form). If that sounds too strenuous, there are several lakes in the local area to laze around at, and the site is in a Dark Sky Reserve for idling after dark.
In between all that, Adventure Basecamp Wales guests have enthused about the team's excellent and friendly customer service and the utterly handsome views from the site. Another thing that gets a rave review here is the food: fresh bean coffee is served to keep you fuelled throughout your stay, alongside breakfast and lunch bites and homemade sugary treats.
The team highly recommends that you venture out to sample local Welsh products too, including Welsh meat, cheese, wine and local honey. There are plenty of farm shops and country pubs that your cordial hosts will be more than happy to point you towards.
Among the amenities are a sparklingly clean toilets and hot showers; free wifi is available in the main building.
