  • Dog-friendly site on a working farm in Rhos on Sea
  • A 25-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute drive from Llandudno
  • Surrounded by country walks and a short walk from pubs and a shop
Country walks, pub lunches and buckets full of beach trips… to list out every single thing you have to look forward to at Dinarth Hall Caravan and Camping would take some time, as this North Wales site is very conveniently based in the town of Rhos on Sea, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandudno and five minutes’ drive away from Colwyn Bay Beach. If you’re very much a countryside sort of person, it’ll be nice news that the site is on a working farm setting surrounded by fields and country walks with horses frequently passing by the site. There are just basic facilities, including toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a washing machine and dryer for laundry. There’s a lovely country pub just half an hour’s walk away for your supper or an American diner-style restaurant 10 minutes’ walk away in the other direction. If you’d rather sort yourself out, have a wander up the hill to the small shop 10 minutes’ walk away. The bus, which stops at the end of the road, comes just over every 10 minutes if you feeling like abandoning the car for the weekend. Not that you’ll need it that much if you’ve got beach days at the top of your agenda, because it’s only a 25-minute walk to Rhos on Sea beach and Colwyn Bay Beach is also within walking distance. If you’re driving to Colwyn Bay, there’s plenty of parking (and lots of ice cream vans to go with that). You may want to shift your watersports gear or bicycles down there, as there’s a cycling path along the front and often great conditions for some water activities.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Location to Llandudno being very close

Disliked: Unfortunately I think they should not of opened and due to continuous poor weather the site was waterlogged and a mud pit , the grass was chewed up everywhere and some where at least 10 inches deep ,because of it being a working farm it stunk from entrance right through to caravan park. We have been to this site for around 5 years and will not go back again, everything was covered in mud and made it a complete nightmare.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The staff friendliness was unmatched, super approachable, helped me out massively when my van got stuck and also allowed me the use of their hose pipe to fill my water tank. Stunning scenery from our pitch and it was very quiet and peaceful.

Disliked: Not the sites fault but worth a mention, because of the rain the site was very boggy which meant my van got stuck twice. However they gave us the choice whether we wanted to stay or not, we took the risk. To avoid being in a very boggy spot, we ended up at the back of the field which meant a far way away from toilets. The grass seemed a little long too, this may have helped the fields bogginess.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: It’s seemed like lovely little working farm, and the staff was very helpful (would have helped us tow the car onto the pitch). Close to Llandudno. If the pitch was dry and solid, it would be good value for money.

Disliked: It was extremely muddy, and we had already got stuck in the mud once, so we didn’t want to chance it and decided to drive home. From what we saw, the toilets and showers were quite a walk from the pitch.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: On a working farm Showers and toilets ok

Disliked: The mud! The hardstanding pitches are poorly prepared and are surrounded by grass, so when it is raining, the ground got extremely muddy around the pitch. It was an horrendous weekend. When many motorhomes and vehicles got stuck in the mud the site was very helpful in providing a tractor to help people Off and on the pitches, however this increased the amount of churned up muddy ground. It was extremely hard work with the level of mud surrounding us to relax and enjoy the weekend. The pitches need more work and the hardstanding needs to come to the edge of the road. Luckily we missed the gridlock on the Friday and we left site early on Monday morning to avoid being stuck.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: The site has the potential to be lovely but the reality is that its a poor draining muddy field. Facilities are basic but functional. Staff did what they could to help; moving pitches; towing stuck vehicles.

Disliked: We were not notified prior to arrival of the bad flooding to the site. Hardstanding pitches are surrounded by grass making access to these pitches difficult when flooded.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, clean toilets but dated, easy access to main road

Disliked: MUD! We have arrived after rainy days. We have stayed on gravel pitch but all the inner roads were completely impassable. Also the campsite is quite far from the beach, about half an hour walk.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: I have to say even with the mud and rain, we really enjoyed our stay. Getting pulled out of the mud by the tractor was an experience, especially realising I have a tow point which I didn't know existed 😂 Would definitely stay again, staff are so friendly. Seeing the farm animals especially the foul who was only a couple of weeks old, really added to an unforgettable Easter break. Thank you so much. We really enjoyed it.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Nothing on arrival we were allocated the pitch then had to move, due to no electric , we then moved onto another and had electric for approx 2hrs then none , went to office 3 times told nothing, later that evening were then informed electric was extra (this was not told to us prior in any form) we understand that the weather causes water log but this was horrendous , I has took my 2 grandchildren and believe me this was a disaster . I left a day early and contacted the office to be told I would be contacted ( have a guess what I am still waiting )

Disliked: Fields like swamps, exta 35 paid for electric in 3 days ( no prior mention of this ) no help when complained

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: There was nothing I liked as I couldn't stay. The site was in carnage with people leaving due to waterlogged fields.

Disliked: Sadly the fields were so waterlogged I could not stay for the 2 nights booked. Luckily I was actually visiting my daughter so could return to her. I would have appreciated an email to let me know as I would have been very disappointed if I'd travelled from the North East expecting to camp.

Local attractions

Llandudno (10 minutes’ drive) is a cracking spot for a good wander, with shops, a pier, a promenade and a beach. You may spot a few goats wandering around the edge of town; they’ll have lost their way from Great Orme (20 minutes) just past Llandudno. The green limestone slopes of the Great Orme are not just for the goats, of course, with a tramway and a cable car providing access to the fab views from the 209-metre slope, a café or a playground. Back in Llandudno, get picked up by one of the open-top buses which run in summer from Llandudno Pier. They head over to stunning Conwy (10 minutes’ drive), past the spectacular 13th-century Conwy Castle, cobbled streets, bakeries and the cobbled streets typical of such a traditional Welsh port town.
