  • Peaceful, well-kept farm site 10 minutes’ drive from Abergele
  • Llandudno half an hour’s drive; Eryri National Park 35 minutes
  • Large grass pitches a few minutes’ drive from the A55
Somewhere within easy reach of both the coast and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is a good choice for a stay in north Wales. And that’s exactly the location that Peniarth Bach Farm has, surrounded by green countryside about 10 minutes’ drive south of Abergele. This is a peaceful rural farm site, but it’s a handy base for all sorts of days out as it’s only a few minutes’ drive from the A55, the main trunk road running along the North Wales coast. That means it’s pretty straightforward to get to the beaches and resorts along the coast – from Conwy (25 minutes’ drive), to Llandudno (half an hour); the walking trails, mountains and adrenaline activities of Eryri (35 minutes); and all sorts of attractions for all ages. You may like to throw in a trip to Anglesey as well; the bridges over the Menai Strait are only about 40 minutes away by car. Back at the farm, you’ll be staying on spacious, well-maintained grass pitches with purpose-built bathroom facilities including ladies’ and gents’ toilets and showers, plus an accessible/family wetroom. Other facilities on site include a launderette, a washing-up area and a chemical disposal point.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Stunning location on a gorgeous farm with the most lovely owners. We had perfect view of the sun set, nice and peaceful with great facilities. Spotless place. The owner came to grab my little girl and her friend and let them feed their lambs. We loved the peacefulness and can’t wait to return.

Disliked Only thing I could say, our pitch was a bit slanted, we managed to get as straight as possible but it weren’t a big dislike.

Local attractions

A Cwtch Corner where the kids can pet guinea pigs and rabbits; a paddock with friendly ponies and alpacas; and a Reptile Hut (for kids who are into all things slithery) are among the attractions at Manorafon Farm Park (10 minutes’ drive). There is also a Dinosaur Adventure Trail with life-size animatronic prehistoric beasties. In addition to a vast expanse of sand, Rhyl (25 minutes) has the beachfront Children’s Village (with rides and miniature golf) and a skate park for older kids. Weather not playing nice? No problem: the whole family can take shelter at SC2, a complex with an indoor waterpark, a soft-play area and a ninja adventure course. In Llandudno (half an hour), take the cable car to the top of the Great Orme headland, where you can visit an ancient copper mine; hike a coastal nature trail where you might spot kittiwakes and guillemots (plus the resident wild goats); and, of course, take in spectacular ocean and coastal views.
