Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Stayed in our campervan on a busy bank holiday weekend but the site wasn't over-crowded. This is a basic site but that's what we like. Choose your own pitch. The friendly owner directed us to the bottom of the site when I asked for a quiet spot. This was perfect for us. Plenty of portaloos for the number of people on site which were kept clean. Quiet site with lovely views.

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Quiet location.

Beautiful Views.

Easy walking distance both to The Warren and Town.

Clean Facilities.

The owner (Colin) couldn't have been more helpful. He was a mine of local information and when we had trouble with our stove he turned up with a spare one and a tank of propane for us to borrow for the duration of our stay.

Disliked Absolutely nothing

What customers say

This is a basic, peaceful campsite with beautiful views, located a short walk from Hay-on-Wye and the river. Reviewers praise the friendly and helpful owner, Colin. Facilities include clean portaloos and hot showers in converted horseboxes, though some noted washing-up sinks only have cold water. Some guests found the price high for the basic facilities. Rubbish disposal can be unclear.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Friendly welcome. Great location. Fabulous views.
It’s a field with portaloos! But can’t fault it. 15 mins walk into Hay. Beautiful walks down by the river and over to the Warren. Colin was there to welcome us and tell us where to and where not to go. It’s at the top of a hill so drainage for our big heavy van wasn’t a problem after a few days rain. The loos were kept spotless. If you’re looking for an all singing all dancing mod cons site then don’t go here. If you’re happy with the basics, amazing views, peace and quiet and a massive selection of really good pubs (and bookshops 😉) within a short stroll then give it a try. I’m glad we did 👍

Disliked People parking too close! You’ve got the whole field. Why do you need to come so close? £24 for electric seemed steep?

Liked Friendly host, with lots of useful information about Hay on Wye (mainly Pub based, lol), and walking beside the river Wye, which is really beautiful.
The site is very uncomplicated, literally a field with hook up points, just how we like it. And the cleanest portaloos I've ever seen. Really quiet, no lights or noise pollution at night, so a great night sleep.
Thanks for the stay

Liked Budget site, so close to Hay-on-Wye it’s amazing. Open field, electric and water, portaloos and a horse box shower.

Local attractions

To fully take advantage of being so close to the Wye, you'll want to spend a generous portion of your holiday messing about by, in or on the water. Local coarse fishing opportunities are a five-minute drive away, while those looking to expend a bit more energy can head to Celtic Canoes (five minutes) to rent a riverworthy craft. Other, bigger bodies of water like Llangorse Lake (20 minutes) are also worth scouting out, particularly if you're into hiking – the lake and its surrounding villages have some of the loveliest walks around. If there's demand for further outdoor action, you can easily make the trip to Black Mountain Activities (10 minutes), where a range of land and water-based options are yours for the choosing. While 100% Welsh holidays certainly have appeal, travellers planning on staying here a bit longer might also like to look at what's over the border in England. The top three highlights? It's a tough call, but Neolithic Arthur's Stone (15 minutes), Hereford's Cider Museum (25 minutes) and Hampton Court Castle (45 minutes) are all strong contenders.
