Spectacular views

General

  • Small, family-run and friendly working farm close to Llandrindod Wells
  • Spectacular scenery for miles around
  • Next door to a golf course with clubhouse bar and restaurant

There's a lot going for small, friendly and family-run Llandrindod Hall Caravan and Camp Site at Llandrindod Wells in Powys.

First up, it's set in spectacular surroundings with just as spectacular views – and all within walking distance of the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells. Next, anyone up for angling? Coarse fishing is available on the town lake and fly fishing nearby on the River Ithon. Or how about teeing off – or a clubhouse tipple or vittle? An 18-hole golf course with clubhouse bar and restaurant is right next door.

And then there's the walking – and pedalling... several footpaths to explore start direct from the site, bike tracks are within easy reach, and 15 minutes' drive will take you to the strolls and wildlife watching of the handsome Elan Valley. Books? Hay on Wye is just 20 miles away.

Llandrindod Hall is a working farm, with excellently-kept amenities including modern toilets and showers, an indoor washing-up area, phone charger points and a fridge/freezer for guests' use. Both barbecues and campfires are allowed and – what a handy little touch – a butcher in Llandrindod Wells gives 10% off to Llandrindod Hall guests.

    Disliked:

Reasonable facilities, plenty of space for second loo and shower, ok for us out of season but would be terrible in mid season,
Shame the owners couldn’t do more than nod from the flower bed.

Wonderful views, within walking distance of Llandrindod, well set out site.

    Disliked:

Could do with additional toilet and shower facilities. Site needs to have better signage as we drove past entrance as it wasn't obvious that it was a touring site.

Pods were lovely & plenty of room for 4 of us on individual inflatable beds. The views were stunning & Brian was very friendly and helpful.

    Disliked:

There are only 2 toilets (which both have showers in) so anytime we needed to go there was always a queue. There is also a portaloo onsite but none of us fancied using it.

Only booked 1/2 hour before we arrived, too soon for the managers to even see the booking, but it was fine, we were shown around and we picked our own pitch and put up the awning for the first time. Lovely walk nearby, and came back via the Lake. Lovely views to wake up to and it was very quiet too. Great stopover on our way back home. There was even a washing machine, drier and fridgefreezer to use, oh and a kettle too.

What a beautiful place. Our pitch in the front little field was in a beautiful spot! Amazing views, we had a warm welcome and a tour of the facilities. Our pitch was snug, but fortunately my parents were next door. We were in the best spot for sun all day and nothing but amazing views. The Victorian event was on over the August bank holiday and the views of the fireworks from our caravan was amazing! Thank you

    Disliked:

The only downside are the toilets and showers. There’s one toilet with a shower cubicle in the same space, and one bathroom with the toilet and bath/shower in the same place. Popping to the toilet was sometimes an issue as people used the showers so there wasnt a toilet available only a portaloo.

Local attractions

It's in a rural and peaceful location, but there's loads to do around the site for all tastes, whether you want to tramp/pedal around the countryside via the numerous footpaths and cycle tracks, have a delve into some Welsh history, or see just how much cash you can expend shopping in the market towns and independent shops of Powys.

Llandrindod Wells a 15-minute wander away has the country's National Cycle Museum, as well as that lake for fishing (and wildlife/wildfowl watching), a big heated pool, sports activities, bike hire and an indoor and outdoor bowling centre.
