Disserth Caravan and Camping Park: Travelling in style

General

  • Quiet wildlife haven by the River Ithon
  • Peaceful and sheltered setting with free fishing on site
  • Licensed bar with Welsh beers, malt whiskies and more

Now this is a site that's fully in tune with its surroundings... peaceful and sheltered Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a wildlife haven on the banks of the River Ithon, where red kites and buzzards hover overhead and where you might catch a glimpse of the resident otter or kingfisher.

Grayling trout fishing is available on site too and is free for guests; just remember to bring your rod licence. Junior explorers enjoy seeing what they can uncover in the depths with a net here as well; no licence required. (If angling's your thing, this is the area for it: the River Ithon is a tributary of the mighty River Wye, one of the best spots in the country for fishing and visited by anglers the world over to land salmon and trout from its waters.)

Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is also quite in tune with what guests might fancy on hol, as it has a licensed bar with a good selection of Welsh beers and malt whiskies, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Its well-kept amenities are in a modern log cabin with individual rooms, all with a toilet and washbasin and most also with a shower.

Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also on site.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Facilities/activities including wachine machines are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Peaceful, clean toilets and showers, lovely old church

    Disliked:

Bar wasn't open,no lighting around the site ,better access for fishing and to the stream no fish caught

From the manager...

It was obvious from the moment you arrived in your motorhome that we were not the park for you. You booked a hard standing pitch and then questioned why there was no water tap on the pitch. We gave you a serviced pitch at no extra cost as the park was quiet. As to park lighting this is a quiet peaceful country park where people appreciate the wildlife and the night sky, it is not a housing estate. As to the bar you were told it was available up to 9pm you just needed to ring the bell. I am sorry if there was no well lighted path down to the river which by the way is a trout and grayling where fishermen normally use flies, so the reason you caught nothing is probably more down to your method and tackle, because as you left another gentleman arrived for his fourth visit this year simply to go fly fishing for three days. If you are going to continue motorhoming and rock up and set up a fully curtained fixed awning for five nights then choose a site that has a bus stop outside the gate or do your research before you book, fortunately the majority of people who stay appreciate what the park has to offer and the quiet spot in the countryside.. Enjoy your travels.

Great site in a great location next to a river26/05/2022

A quiet and well appointed site next to a river and beautiful ancient church. As a child, we would meet friends at this site every Spring bank holiday. It was much more basic then, a small field with free range chickens. I remember catching brown trout in the river and BBQing them. It is still a great location and the team couldn't have been more helpful. The showers were very luxurious.

    Disliked:

Perhaps a few too many green statics but that's business. It was very quiet when we were there so not really a problem. I didn't trust the "throw everything in the skip and the contractors will sort out the recycling" so we took our recyclables away with us.

What a little gem of a place centrally located. We received a warm welcome and a tour of the site. The place was clean and with the added bonus of free hot showers. Has washing up facilities and laundry facilities if required for a small cost. If in the area I would not hesitate to stay here again. And would highly recomend to anyone.
