Disserth Caravan and Camping Park: Disserth - pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! (from my camp chair)

General

  • Quiet wildlife haven by the River Ithon
  • Peaceful and sheltered setting with free fishing on site
  • Licensed bar with Welsh beers, malt whiskies and more

Now this is a site that's fully in tune with its surroundings... peaceful and sheltered Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a wildlife haven on the banks of the River Ithon, where red kites and buzzards hover overhead and where you might catch a glimpse of the resident otter or kingfisher.

Grayling trout fishing is available on site too and is free for guests; just remember to bring your rod licence. Junior explorers enjoy seeing what they can uncover in the depths with a net here as well; no licence required. (If angling's your thing, this is the area for it: the River Ithon is a tributary of the mighty River Wye, one of the best spots in the country for fishing and visited by anglers the world over to land salmon and trout from its waters.)

Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is also quite in tune with what guests might fancy on hol, as it has a licensed bar with a good selection of Welsh beers and malt whiskies, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Its well-kept amenities are in a modern log cabin with individual rooms, all with a toilet and washbasin and most also with a shower.

Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also on site.

We have a second mum there and we will always have a home, wherever we may roam. Looking forward to returning soon guys x❤️X

The site is clean, tidy and well managed. The facilities are cleaned daily and are in good condition. Free WiFi across the site was great. We loved the pitches layout which is not regimented. The site owners could not be more helpful. We will return!

We booked into this little gem on the first trip away in our new campervan. We had no set plan, just chose to tour some of Wales. Disserth Campsite is so calm and peaceful. Only birdsong, sheep and the occasional horse to "disturb". There's everything you need on the practical side: hot showers, water on site, EHU, recycling, grey and black drop.
We had a nice welcome from the owners, who are friendly and kind. Always around for a chat and a laugh. In fact everyone we met there was amazingly friendly.
The place has such a great relaxing vibe, which is down to the owners Ann and Mike. We only intended to stay one night, but felt so chilled we had to stay another!
So thank you Mike and Ann, for making our first trip to Wales so memorable.

Not reccomended, the campsite is so small and it's more like a residential site, than a campsite. it's has about 10 EHU parking spots and the rest is all residential, with barking dogs when you walk past, and not much to do there not even good walks, to which we love doing, and over priced for what we paid, we stayed at 10 EHU on our travels all under £25 with loads of great walks. We woud not reccomend this campsite.

From the manager...

As they say you can not please all of the people all of the time. You must view the world through different glasses to the majority. As for value for money all you did was moan about how expensive Wales has become, maybe stick to wild camping. and do your research before booking regarding location and surroundings. As to dogs barking please do not be a hypocrite as yours was doing its fair share on the day.

Local attractions

Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a nifty spot to use as a base to tackle the walks and bike rides of mid-Wales, or for visiting the shows and events of the nearby Royal Welsh Showground. The Elan valley and the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm are 10 minutes' drive to the north.

Also have a look at nearby Abbey Cym Hir Hall at Llandrindod Wells, a neo-Elizabethan country mansion built in the 19th century, and at the Judge's Lodgings in Presteigne, a recreation of a 19th-century judge's house – courtroom included.
